Life’s tough. There, I said it! Whether it’s dumpking sugar all over the floor, doing the school rush TWICE because a lunchbox was left behind, or dropping a basket of clean laundry on a muddy spot on the floor – let Massage Envy help you manage Your Because Moment!

Your Because Moment / by BusyMomsHelper.com #BecauseMoment #IC #ad

I’ve heard so many people say ‘I can’t get a massage, no time for a luxury like that’. Oh, hun, it’s not a luxury! Sure, it’s a fabulous, wonderful hour or two where the focus is on YOU for a change, but it’s not pampering – it’s an integral part of everyone’s wellness journey. Think of how much we do each day, and how much we focus on everyone else’s happiness and well-being. It’s time your own aches, pain and stress is taken care of – and Massage Envy can  help!

Think about it this way – you take your car in for a tune-up, right? Our bodies work plenty hard, too, and need one even more badly, but too often we don’t take the time. This realization hit me this past year, and it’s made a world of difference!

I have a membership to Massage Envy – gifted to me by my wonderful Sis-in-Law because she could see how desperately I needed to unwind, refresh, and get a better handle on my daily life. Going in every month has been wonderful! As luxurious as it feels, it’s helped me with a lot of my bodies aches – lifting and chasing kids all day, loads of never-ending laundry, plus never getting enough sleep leaves me in major need of a refresh!

Give Yourself a Break with the KFC Family Fill-Up

Give Yourself a Break with the KFC Family Fill-Up / by Busy Mom's Helper #KFCFamilyFillUp #ad @KFC

This post is sponsored by KFC. All opinions are mine alone. #KFCFamilyFillUp

I love cooking meals for my family, I really do – but sometimes there’s just not enough time in the day. While certain things on our never-ending To-Do list can wait until later (you’d be proud how well I can postpone laundry), feeding your family a quality meal just isn’t one of those! Luckily, KFC has the ideal meal to feed your kiddos, family and friends. So Give Yourself a Break with the KFC Family Fill-Up!

Give Yourself a Break with the KFC Family Fill-Up / by Busy Mom's Helper #KFCFamilyFillUp #ad @KFC

My family LOVES KFC – I even worked there in high school, until I moved away for college! You know it’s good, quality food when you can work around it for years and not be sick of it 🙂 Since we’ve still got plenty of boxes to unpack from our move, paperwork for switching addresses, typical work and school stuff, we decided last weekend was the perfect time for our family to take a little break and enjoy the delish Family Fill Up, some time away from the hassle, and great family conversation!

Give Yourself a Break with the KFC Family Fill-Up / by Busy Mom's Helper #KFCFamilyFillUp #ad @KFC

Yup, for just $20 (plus tax) we got 8 pieces of chicken, 2 orders of mashed potatoes and gravy, 1 order of coleslaw and 4 biscuits. I’ll admit I’m a fan of the crispy chicken, but most of my family prefers the original. Either way, it’s so yummy and brings back plenty of happy memories!

The Colonel once said that “It makes me feel good that my food has helped make life a little easier for people” – and what makes life easier than taking care of mealtime for your family? And not just any random fast-food meal, but actual fresh, delicious choices that please everyone, just like a home cooked meal – but without all that time and hassle!

Not sure where your closest KFC is? Just check it out HERE to find one near you – then give yourself a break from cooking dinner tonight and let your family enjoy a fresh KFC Family Fill Up meal!

Tips for Cooking When You Don’t Have Time

January 9, 2016 by Kelly Dedeaux

Tips for Cooking When You Don't Have Time / by Busy Mom's Helper #CMAawards #Ad

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of J.M. Smucker’s®. The opinions and text are all mine.

Life’s busy most of the time – but I’ve gotta tell you that the past week and the next couple are going to be downright insane for my family! I’ll definitely be utilizing these Tips for Cooking When You Don’t Have Time to save us from starvation!

Tips for Cooking When You Don't Have Time / by Busy Mom's Helper #CMAawards #Ad

Why is this such a crazy time for us? We got an offer on our house (yay!) on a Thursday, picked out one to buy on a Friday, left for a week-long vacation Saturday, Sunday our dog was taken to the ER for surgery and a week of tests (while we’re gone), Thursday our phone was stolen, and we got home the next Sunday with 9 days to completely pack and get out of our house. Plus normal life stuff like work and school, of course! Ya – cooking isn’t something I have a lot of time for right now!

Tip #1: Plan Ahead and Shop Smart

You don’t have time for ‘what are we having’ when you’re super busy, so be sure to plan your menu ahead of time. Also prepare a detailed shopping list, preferably fitting it all into one stop. I love that Kroger has everything I need, especially items to help make cooking quicker, which brings us to…..

Tips for Cooking When You Don't Have Time / by Busy Mom's Helper #CMAawards #Ad

#2: Grab Baking Mixes for Your Favorite Recipes

Sometimes I really enjoy baking everything from scratch – other times it just makes no sense taking the extra time, plus there’s certain things that simply taste better when I use Martha White® Baking Mixes from Kroger. I completely stocked up for our upcoming mad dash of moving this month – and although you may assume I’m making a bunch of muffins or cornbread, you’re wrong!

Tips for Cooking When You Don't Have Time / by Busy Mom's Helper #CMAawards #Ad

I love using these mixes as a BASE in many recipes, cutting down my prep time AND ingredients at the same time. Another thing about moving – I need to clean out my fridge and shelves, so buying fewer ingredients is sure a plus! Soon I’ll be sharing my favorites – Blueberry Scones with glaze, Wildberry Chicken Salad Sandwiches, and Sundried Tomato & Mozzarella Loaf! See – you can do so much with very little (ingredients, time, money, etc)!

Tip #3: Make Extra and Freeze for Later

It makes total sense, but I’m amazed how many people are like ‘oh, really? I never thought of that’ when I mention that I make double or triple of a recipe and freeze the extras for a later time. You’re spending the time cooking anyway, so get two or three meals or snacks out of one go!

Tips for Cooking When You Don't Have Time / by Busy Mom's Helper #CMAawards #Ad

Tip #4: Try a Meal Trade

This is along the same thinking as #3, only in this you get with some friends – for example, you plus 4 friends equals 5 people. You each pick a different recipe, and make 5 batches of that recipe. Then trade with your friends with what they made, and you’ve got 5 separate meals or snacks with just 1 baking session!

These tips have made a HUGE difference for me, and are probably gonna help save my butt over the coming month of running around like a mad woman!

Which tip do you think will help YOU the most?

Free Printable 2016 Planner Half-Sized Version

August 3, 2016 by Kelly Dedeaux

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / New Half-Sized Version / by Busy Mom's Helper

Are y’all ready for some super exciting news? We (finally) were able to make another version of our fabulous 2015-2016 Planner for you! Many of you requested it come in a smaller size – so after much trial and error on our part to get it sized down and easily printable, I’m thrilled to share it with you today! So without further ado – our Free Printable 2016 Planner Half-Sized Version!

Check out our newest planner HERE for 2016-2017, or just 2017!

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / New Half-Sized Version / by Busy Mom's Helper

A few VERY IMPORTANT things about this – PAY ATTENTION!!!

  • It is designed so it can be printed BACK AND FRONT, saving you paper. However, to set it up like this it looks VERY out of order – because it is for normal printing. BUT – when you print it back to front onto 8.5×11 size paper, it will be facing exactly how it should for you to bind it down the middle into the perfect planner/booklet!
  • We found that on home printers, there are margins that come up, no matter what we tried to change. So I highly recommend taking it to a professional printer like Staples or somewhere and having them print it without margins. If you DO want to print it at home, be sure to set it to FIT instead of ACTUAL SIZE/100% or some will get cut off due to margin stuff. Then just trim off the white around the edges and staple/bind as desired!
  • I know this may not be the EXACT size you were wanting, specifically. I received MANY requests for all sorts of custom, smaller sized – I’m very very sorry, but as much as I’d love to make everyone happy, it’s just not realistic. This one version took several days of work and frustration – and I’m giving it to you for FREE. So please forgive if it’s not 100% perfect.

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / by Busy Mom's Helper / Free Printable Calendar

For those of you who’ve been patiently waiting for our newest planner, thank you! We worked really  hard on getting this one just right, and love the fabulous design, clean layout and many useful pages. Get your life in order with our Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner today!

Check out our newest planner HERE for 2016-2017, or just 2017!

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / by Busy Mom's Helper / Free Printable Calendar

We tried to incorporate the best feedback from our last year’s planner into this new version, and kept the design fun and colorful, yet simple and clean. The cover has a nice, white space for you to add your name, a title, business name or whatever you want – heck, leave it blank if that’s what you prefer!

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / by Busy Mom's Helper / Free Printable Calendar

Inside the cover page (so starting on the left page) is a left-and-right spread of the 2015 and 2016 Years at a Glance. I like to highlight holidays and birthdays, just so as I’m really quick skimming that page I can see important things.

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / by Busy Mom's Helper / Free Printable Calendar

After those pages we begin our months – a left-and-right spread of the monthly calendar, then each week in that month fits on it’s own 2-page spread for the next four or five pages. On the Monthly Spreads we even included a different quote for each – giving some inspiration as you handle your planning! Of course, on the monthly planner pages we kept a section for notes, as well as the previous and following months ‘at a glance’.

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / by Busy Mom's Helper / Free Printable Calendar

The weekly was fun – and due to your wonderfully helpful feedback, we made sure to have plenty of white space for writing, and for doodles! On the left page is the month/year along the edge, then the week going down the page in rows with the date on the right side of the rows – complete with a place for Notes at the bottom. The right page is for the Weekly Menu, shopping list, and even more space for notes.

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / by Busy Mom's Helper / Free Printable Calendar

After the month/week spreads that take us from August 2015 through December 2016, there’s a 2-page spread for Contacts. Spots for name, address, phone and email on a clean and easy-to-read page!

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / by Busy Mom's Helper / Free Printable Calendar

The very last page is for Birthday & Important Dates. I don’t know about you, but I definitely can’t remember all that throughout the year! This will help keep dates organized!

Free Printable 2015-2016 Planner / by Busy Mom's Helper / Free Printable Calendar

The total page count for this is 188 single pages – printing them double-sided helps bring that down to 94 😀 The size is currently 8.5×11 – we also have a smaller version HERE for those that want to carry it around in your purse! Now go print this off, bind it as you wish, and start getting your life planned – perhaps adding a Disney vacation on the calendar while you’re at it (affiliate link – use Promo Code: BMH15 for $10 off your vacation package)!

Ten Ways to Show Hubby You Care (and save time, too!)

January 14, 2015 by Kelly Dedeaux

Ten Ways to Show Hubby You Care (and save time, too!) / by Busy Mom's Helper #DropShopAndOil #Ad #love #relationships

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #DropShopAndOil #CollectiveBias

So you may think your honey is the absolute most amazing thing this side of anywhere, but I gotta say that mine is the BOMB-DIGGITY! Seriously, he does so much for our family and treats me WAY better than I deserve. Lately I’ve been trying extra hard to return the love and treat HIM like he’s everything, because he is! If you’re wanting to do a little extra, too, here are Ten Ways to Show Hubby You Care (and save time, too!)

Ten Ways to Show Hubby You Care (and save time, too!) / by Busy Mom's Helper #DropShopAndOil #Ad #love #relationships

Wonder why I added the bit about saving time in there? Because we’re women…BUSY women! We have jobs to work, houses to clean, food to make, and kids to chase. We really would give our men all the time in the world if we could, but it’s usually not realistic. So saving some time while going the extra mile is a big deal. I mean, this blog IS called Busy Mom’s Helper, so let’s get to helping!

#1: Make Him a Nice Morning Drink

Before he heads out to work (or you head out, whichever comes first), fix him one of his favorite drinks. A coffee, hot chocolate, chai tea, apple juice, or milk…whatever it is, it’s a thoughtful act during one of the most rushed times of day. It not only shows you care, but can put him in a bright mood for the day! That can make you feel good for CAUSING him to be happy, which lets your morning be less chaotic.

#2: Lay Out His Clothes For Him

At night, lay out his work or casual clothes (or grubs, whatever!) for him so in the morning he doesn’t have one more thing to worry about. It doesn’t take you long, he’ll feel your support, and guess what…saves you time in the morning! Woot woot!

#3: Listen WELL When He Talks

Instead of just thinking about what you’re going to say next, REALLY listen to what you sweetie is saying. He’ll not only feel like you care and that what he has to say is important, but listening well will prevent anyone having to repeat (or possibly missing something important) so will save you time!

#4: Take Care of the Oil Change on the Vehicles

No, I’m not being sexist here saying that ‘usually’ men take care of the auto stuff. In fact, Hubby and I split it pretty evenly! But it IS nice for him when I just swing by Walmart’s Automotive Care Center, leave our van or car with them to get our oil changed, and even get my shopping done at the same time! It takes me hardly ANY extra time than errands already would have, and now HE doesn’t have to use his lunch break to take it in.

Ten Ways to Show Hubby You Care (and save time, too!) / by Busy Mom's Helper #DropShopAndOil #Ad #love #relationships

I also make the right decision to get Pennzoil for our vehicles, since Hubby loves it when we take the best care of our vehicles. Why is it better? All Pennzoil products help clean out sludge lesser oils leave behind and are designed for complete protection to allow you to drive an extra of 550 miles per year vs. a dirty engine. No other motor oil provides better protection from friction. We want our cars to last a LONG time, without expensive maintenance, so this simple choice will really help! With this particular trip, I had my little Green Lantern boy with me to help out!

Ten Ways to Show Hubby You Care (and save time, too!) / by Busy Mom's Helper #DropShopAndOil #Ad #love #relationships

They also offer specific types so you get the best thing for YOUR vehicle. For our van we use Pennzoil’s High Mileage Vehicle Oil because it helps to reduce leaks and oil consumption in worn or higher mileage engines, and ours is older with lots of miles. It’s a motor oil that is specifically designed for new or late model vehicles with over 75,000 miles, to help keep the engines running clean and going strong for a long time.

Ten Ways to Show Hubby You Care (and save time, too!) / by Busy Mom's Helper #DropShopAndOil #Ad #love #relationships

Not only that, but a total surprise to me was that they REALLY vacuumed it out! Normally I would be horrified to share pics of the interior of our van (we have 4 young kids and 2 dogs that sometimes join us for rides…it’s not particularly clean – plus it’s older)…but look at this!!!

Ten Ways to Show Hubby You Care (and save time, too!) / by Busy Mom's Helper #DropShopAndOil #Ad #love #relationships

Even Green Lantern was thrilled at our ‘pretty’ new ride!

#5: Praise Him in Front of the Kids and Your Friends

This is such a good thing, because it helps boost his confidence, shows you truly love and appreciate him, and teaches your kids about good, healthy relationships at the same time. I’ve noticed that the more I praise Hubby in front of them, they also show praise and gratitude more!

#6: Allow Him Time to Unwind When He Gets Home

After spending all day with the kids, cleaning the house, working on the blog, it’s really hard to not bombard him the minute he walks in the door, especially since it’s RIGHT at dinner time! But giving him a few minutes to just breath, put his stuff away, and adjust really helps the rest of our evening go smoother and with much less tension. A good smooch or two wouldn’t hurt, either!

#7: Apologize When Necessary

Holding on to grudges and letting your pride drag out arguments is so draining, and has an affect on the whole household. Instead of making it last, just apologize, make amends, and move on. Less time fuming over little things!

#8: Pack His Favorites for Lunch

It really doesn’t take long to add a few extra things to a sandwich so it’s extra tasty, or throw in his favorite few already cut up for him. He works hard (not saying we don’t, but this is about him), so something extra special in the middle of the day can really make him feel loved.

#9: Hang or Fold His Clothes the Way HE Likes

Some guys (and gals) have a particular way they like their clothes hung up. My honey has his work shirts organized by colors. I try to make sure to put them that way, so he can find things easier and….duh da dun….save time searching! When putting clothes away, I also fix the pockets on his pants. They tend to get all funky during washing, so fixing that for him makes it even better when he gets dressed. I honestly don’t know if he ever notices that, or does it himself when he puts laundry away, but even secret acts of service for him are excellent!

#10: Give Him Love Notes

Isn’t it super fun to stick short, sweet love notes in his car, or pocket, or backpack? Just be careful it’s not TOO sweet, in case it falls out during a meeting at work! You can even hide it with a secret treat for him, like a little candy or snack!

Bonus: Surprise Him With a Lunch Out

How happy would it make him to find a gift card so he can go out to lunch every once in awhile? Since we try to save money by packing lunches, my hun misses out on a lot of socializing with his coworkers who DO go to lunch regularly. I know he really enjoys it when he can join in!

What are YOUR favorite things to do for your special someone?

Planned New Year’s Eve Party Pack

December 30, 2017 by Kelly Dedeaux

Planned New Year's Eve Party / by Busy Mom's Helper #DatingDivas #NewYears #Parties #Printables

I LOVE New Year’s Eve. Christmas is magical, and spiritual, and festive, and tearing up in Silent Night…and so many other wonderful things. But NYE? It’s just a BIG, OL’ PARTY. I LOVE IT. It’s kind of like this huge stress reliever for me – like the joyful burden of Christmas is over, and it’s time to just kinda go crazy. But how on earth can I find the time to plan something awesome? I’ve spent all of my energy on Christmas! It’s kinda not fair that Christmas and NYE are sooo close together. They should really change that.

Anyway, in my usual panic I Google searched for something to make my life a little easier, and I found this…Oh. My. Gosh! The Dating Divas have done it again and prepared a COMPLETE Planned New Year’s Eve Party Pack for you! Seriously, you’ll hardly have to do anything to get this ready, except maybe decide what fun people you’re going to ring in the new year with!

Planned New Year's Eve Party / by Busy Mom's Helper #DatingDivas #NewYears #Parties #Printables

My gals at The Dating Divas are right on the mark again. Sometimes I’m a bit in awe of their creative genius! They have come up with a totally brilliant way to ring in the New Year, and I am kinda obsessed! The concept is genius. Each hour, guests open up a bag that is filled to the brim with all kinds of treats and goodies to add some festivity to the party!

The best part? EVERYTHING is in the pack already {okay, besides treats!} Enter a HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF. So, let me show you the bags. Aren’t they the cutest? Wouldn’t it be so fun to walk into a party and see these scattered all over the table?

Planned New Year's Eve Party / by Busy Mom's Helper #DatingDivas #NewYears #Parties #Printables

And okay…this is so cute. They even added little decorations for you to put on the bags! Oh my goodness. SO FUN!

Planned New Year's Eve Party / by Busy Mom's Helper #DatingDivas #NewYears #Parties #Printables
So, your first order of business is to decide what time you want the party to start! That will determine how many bags you need!
I’m thinking we are going to make dinner together. Super fun way to take the pressure off, right? After dinner…I’m thinking we’re going to play this AWESOME “Loaded Questions”-type game, included in the pack. How cute and fun is this? This game is hysterical, and the Divas have put their Diva stamp on it! Love!

Planned New Year's Eve Party / by Busy Mom's Helper #DatingDivas #NewYears #Parties #Printables

After I’ve died of laughter, I’m thinking a good calm-down/reflection activity is going to be these darling resolution prompts. Don’t you love them? As I mentioned, NYE is one of my favorites. Not just because it’s a big ol’ party, but because it means a fresh start! I love how the Divas have incorporated that into the pack.

Planned New Year's Eve Party / by Busy Mom's Helper #DatingDivas #NewYears #Parties #Printables

Then, let’s put a movie on! Got any good NYE movie ideas? They have even included some super darling popcorn boxes! I just love printable popcorn boxes. They make everything so much more festive, and add so much to a party!

Get Your Home Holiday Ready with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

December 17, 2014 by Kelly Dedeaux

Get Your Home Holiday Ready with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser / by Busy Mom's Helper #MrCleanMillion #DDDivas #sponsored

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Mr. Clean. I was provided the featured product and compensations to facilitate this post, but all opinions are 100% mine.

I hate cleaning. Like, REALLY hate cleaning! I pretty much did a dance when I realized my kids were getting old enough to do more chores by themselves, some with supervision. I tend to let laundry pile up for days, until I HAVE to put it away because everyone’s out of clean clothes. I’m terrible at leaving the sink full of dirty dishes (luckily Hubby is amazing and does them 95% of the time). Vacuuming my bedroom…well, let’s just not talk about that. I do want my house to be a little more clean for the holidays, though, because friends and family tend to come over more often. I’m not willing to spend forever on it, though, so luckily there’s a way to Get Your Home Holiday Ready with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!

I’ve always had a love for Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, because they work on so many things! Whether I’ve got a scratch in the floor, dirt spots on the wall, or random messes (tends to happen with kids, apparently) it’s my go-to cleaning tool. Plus, they do feel pretty cool! There’s several spots around the house that have been quite the eye-sore for awhile, so in my mini-cleaning spree for the holiday’s I ran around attacking them all with my trusty Magic Eraser. The door frames are now shiny, compared to the yucky spots before….

And Wonder Woman’s door had all SORTS of dirt, spray spots from her random art projects, and whatever else all over her door! I’d say she rubbed a black shoe against it for this smudge…but it was way up by the door knob.

I love how the Magic Eraser buffs out random spots and dirt, making the white actually LOOK white on our doors! Yes, this is another from Wonder Woman’s room…she tends to be quite messy with all her art stuff!

Even tons of those black shoe-like smudges inside the door frame on her bathroom…what the heck? Lucky for me (and for her) a quick rub with Mr. Clean and it was like new.

Another of my favorite, and most common, uses for it are stickers. I hate all that gunk they leave behind on things! This sticker was on my pretty black chair in my craft room….not sure HOW it didn’t bug me for the past 7 years I’ve had the chair…but it was time for it to go. Scrub, scrub, and away with it!

However, there’s one way Mr. Clean Magic Eraser totally AMAZED me this year. I made a really cute sign saying ‘Christ is the Reason for the Season’ last year, and was super excited to hang it up when we began decorating for the holidays. Stupid me, I left it down for a couple days…and one of the kids (the guilty party has still not been identified) COLORED ON IT WITH CRAYON!!! Yup, I was pissed, to say the least. It looked awful. I was really nervous, but decided that even if the Magic Eraser didn’t fix it, it couldn’t really make it worse. So I gave it a quick 60-second scrub and……

If I wasn’t totally sold on the MAGIC of this eraser, I am now! Even the sprayed-on sparkles are still there, it didn’t even scrape up the vinyl lettering, and the colors look perfect. I later asked Hubby if he could see where the kids marked on the sign….he had no idea what I was talking about after inspecting it. LOVE!

Did you know there’s about a MILLION uses for the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? Here’s a little video to get your brain going….

#10,101: Want an inexpensive holiday decorating tip? Draw fun designs on the outside of your glasses or serving bowls with bright-colored Sharpies…at the end of the night, simply rub it off with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

#3,459: You know that annoying, sticky residue left on holiday toys and decor by price tags? Gently wipe with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and, viola, it’s gone!

#3,155: Candles are beautiful on a holiday table but waxy residue can leave such a mess. Pick the bulk of the wax off and then gently scrub with Magic Eraser to help remove melted wax.

You can find even MORE of the million uses for cleaning and fun by following Mr. Clean on Twitter or Facebook! Want to give it a try on your own? Then you’ll love this…
