A Simple to Make Lavender Lemonade That Can Lower Your Stress Levels

June 10, 2020 by Angela Paris

Stress is everywhere around us these days. We’re under stress at work, we’re under stress at home – it seems like there’s no escaping it. Called the silent killer, stress can lead to a variety of health problems. From digestion disorders to serious health troubles, it’s vital to stay away from stress as much as you can. That, however, is easier said than done.

In order to relieve stress, some people smoke, others drink, while many turn to meds. Those are obviously the wrong solutions – they never get to the root of the problem. The good news is that there is a natural remedy that can reduce stress – essential oils.

How Do Essential Oils Help Against Stress?

Many studies have shown that essential oils have a positive effect on numerous health problems. The list includes stress as well. Lavender oil has been known for its antibacterial effects, but according to a recent study, it can also relieve stress better than any drugs. Lavender-based aromatherapy has shown it can do wonders for many people and can also help with anxiety.

Here are some of the positive benefits of this amazing oil:

  • May reduce pain
  • Showed promising results against anxiety and depression
  • Improves mood
  • Can help relieve inflammation
  • Relieves high blood pressure

Lavender also has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antifungal properties which make it a godsend against numerous health problems.

Here’s how to prepare a powerful remedy that can lower your stress levels and refresh your system:

Ingredients

  • 12 cups water
  • 1 drop lavender oil
    6 lemons
  • 1 cup honey
  • Lavender sprigs (as garnish)

Preparation

Peel the lemons and juice them, then add them to the water with lavender. Adjust the taste of the drink to your preferences and enjoy.

A Glass of Warm Water with Lemon in the Morning Can Do Great Things

June 10, 2020 by Angela Paris

If you ask anyone if they drink their water hot or cold, the answer would undoubtedly be cold. Cold water is refreshing especially in the summer and tastes so much better than a glass of hot water. However, according to many experts, warm water has much better benefits for our health.

Why Drink Warm Water?

According to recent studies, cold water has a number of negative effects on our health. It can solidify and thicken the mucus in our lungs and can also impair our digestion. This is why more and more people are joining the warm water team, something people in China and India have been doing for a long time.

Drinking warm water in the morning with a bit of lemon is a custom in Asian countries. It can enhance your digestion and literally jumpstart your immune system, helping you come out a winner in the fight against various diseases and conditions. As much as warm water is beneficial, a slice of lemon or fresh lemon juice in it boosts its properties even further, making the drink truly extraordinary.

Here are a few benefits of drinking warm water with lemon every morning:

Boosts Digestion

A glass of warm water with lemon in the morning will improve your digestion and improve the blood circulation in your stomach. The lemon will detoxify and optimize your liver essentially boosting your digestion even further.

Hydrates Your Body

The human body absorbs warm water easier and it’s even better when you infuse the drink with lemon. It will hydrate your body better than anything else. Proper hydration is very important and can prevent a variety of problems.

Promotes Weight Loss

Drinking plenty of water is vital if you want to lose weight. Lemons are a great weight loss-booster as well and will accelerate your metabolism on the double. When combined, a glass of warm water with lemon juice can do wondrous things for your health.

As you can see, a glass of warm water with lemon in the morning can have amazing benefits for your health. Start drinking it today and you will start seeing the effects pretty soon.

Pumpkin Breakfast Smoothie / Busy Mom's Helper
Remember how Flash loves Pumpkin? Well, technically speaking I do, too, but I always blame my pumpkin stuff on him 🙂 Anywho – we wanted something new for breakfast the other day, and although I normally would have LOVED to whip up some muffins, the kids wanted a ‘smoothie’. Flash was in a pumpkin mood, so we tried something totally different than what we normally do – Pumpkin Breakfast Smoothie – and it turned out FABULOUS! Originally shared October 2nd, 2013

Easy Potato Soup & Cider Recipe

January 12, 2019 by Kelly Dedeaux

Comforting and Easy Potato Soup & Cider Recipe - a quick, delicious meal from Idahoan® Steakhouse® Soups #AD #IdahoanSoups

Thank you Idahoan® Steakhouse® Soups for sponsoring this post. Enjoy the flavorful, slow-cooked taste of restaurant-quality soup at home, in minutes.

While I’m grateful to live in a place warmer than Utah now, it’s still been plenty cold here lately with a bit of freezing rain this month. I don’t know about you, but when it gets cold I have even less of a desire to spend forever cooking – but, we still have to eat, right? Luckily we can still make a delicious and comforting (aka: nice and warm!) meal with this Easy Potato Soup & Cider Recipe! with hardly any effort required, you can whip up a family-pleasing dish in practically no time at all, meaning more time you can spend wrapped up in that blanket.

Comforting and Easy Potato Soup & Cider Recipe - a quick, delicious meal from Idahoan® Steakhouse® Soups #AD #IdahoanSoups

Okay, so maybe us moms don’t ACTUALLY have time to just lounge around wrapped in a blanket – but you know I’m gonna try to stay as comfy and bundled as possible once the temperatures get into the 30’s and 40’s here! That’s one reason this meal is so perfect – the apple cider cooks in your slow cooker a few hours, making the house smell like cinnamon and deliciousness. Meanwhile the Idahoan Steakhouse® Soups cook in just 5 minutes, and are full of flavorful seasonings and rich cheeses – not to mention real Idaho® potatoes – giving you a creamy, hearty flavor with every bite. All you have to do is add water, making it about as easy as a quality meal can be!

Are you in for several weeks of chilly weather in your area? Don’t worry, you can enjoy more than one tasty meal that’s easy to make and brings warming comfort to your family because Idahoan Steakhouse Soups offer a variety of great flavors, such as Loaded Potato (which we enjoyed for this particular dinner), Creamy Potato, Cheddar Broccoli (my favorite!!) and Cheddar Potato. So many options to choose from, but since they’re quick to cook maybe just whip up a variety and let your family test out their favorites!

Apple Cider Recipe

Ingredients

  • Large Container Apple Juice
  • 3-4 Cinnamon Sticks, plus some for garnish as desired
  • Caramel Syrup, if desired

Comforting and Easy Potato Soup & Cider Recipe - a quick, delicious meal from Idahoan® Steakhouse® Soups #AD #IdahoanSoups

Directions

  1. Pour the apple juice into your slow cooker.
  2. Add 3-4 cinnamon sticks.
  3. Cook on low for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally to spread the cinnamon flavor throughout.
  4. When serving, add a bit of caramel syrup as desired – enjoy!

When your cider is close to done, grab your flavor choice of Idahoan Steakhouse Soup and follow the directions on the back. For our Loaded Potato, I simply had to boil 4 cups of water (for 1 package), whisk in the contents of the pack, lower heat and simmer (uncovered) for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then remove it from the heat and let cool about 5 minutes. That’s all it takes, guys!

Comforting and Easy Potato Soup & Cider Recipe - a quick, delicious meal from Idahoan® Steakhouse® Soups #AD #IdahoanSoups

I’m a huge fan of things that help make our busy lives easier, so of course I not only love the great, slow-cooked, full-of-flavor taste of Idahoan Steakhouse Soups – but also being able to give my family restaurant-quality soup right in our home in just minutes! They really help make comfort easy, despite the chilly temps outside.

Mango Oatmeal Smoothie Recipe / a great breakfast recipe or refreshing afternoon snack recipe

I’m a huge lover of fruit recipes, so when a delicious smoothie comes about, I have to share it with y’all! This Mango Oatmeal Smoothie would make a perfect breakfast drink, or enjoy it as a refreshing afternoon snack. Whenever you choose to give it a try, I’m sure you’ll love this healthy recipe that’s super tasty!

Mango Oatmeal Smoothie Recipe / a great breakfast recipe or refreshing afternoon snack recipe

It doesn’t take many ingredients, and my favorite thing about smoothies is how quick and simple they are to whip up. Plus fewer dishes since you just use a blender – talk about a win-win! The oatmeal gives a great texture to this already creamy treat, plus some added health benefits which I could definitely use 🙂

Mango Oatmeal Smoothie Recipe / a great breakfast recipe or refreshing afternoon snack recipe

I’m thinking of trying it with strawberries instead of the mango next time, since they’re my absolute favorite fruit – although mango is also fabulous and delish!

Mango Oatmeal Smoothie Recipe / a great breakfast recipe or refreshing afternoon snack recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Frozen or fresh Mangos (if using fresh mangoes, chop it up and freeze for few hours)
  • ½ cup Old Fashioned Oats
  • ½ cup Greek Yogurt
  • 2 tablespoon Honey/maple Syrup
  • ½ cup Milk (or more to desired consistency)

Mango Oatmeal Smoothie Recipe / a great breakfast recipe or refreshing afternoon snack recipe

Instructions

  1. Place the oats in the blender and blend it at high speed ’till it turns into a powder.
  2. Add the frozen mango chunks, yogurt, honey and mill and blend it on high ’till smooth.
  3. Add a splash of milk, if it’s too thick. Also taste and add more honey if required.
  4. Enjoy!

Mango Oatmeal Smoothie Recipe / a great breakfast recipe or refreshing afternoon snack recipe

Note: Though the oats were made into a powder, there still will be a bit of texture – but it will be perfectly drinkable with a straw.
