Printable Easter Art Coloring Page

March 23, 2016 by Keri Houchin

Printable Easter art coloring page | One Mama's Daily Drama for Busy Mom's Helper

Easter is a one day holiday, but it’s one that can be super busy! With all the excitement, not to mention a little candy, it can be hard to get the kids to sit still and be quiet. This printable Easter art coloring page is the perfect activity for a quiet time and relaxing or just for fun.

Many years ago my family’s Easter traditions included going to church in the morning, a big lunch, an egg hunt, and then family photos in the afternoon. Sometimes we also did a big supper with ham. It was too busy for preschoolers, especially ones who didn’t like crowds or a change in routine.

When you add in a few chocolate eggs and marshmallow chicks, it’s easy to see how our holiday usually ended with cranky crying kids.

Since then we have simplified our traditions to focus on only the most important things. While that’s different for many families, there is one thing we all enjoy: spending time with loved ones.

Coloring is a fun and calming activity, whether you’re a preschooler or an adult. This printable Easter page has lots of little details that can be any color you want.

I made two different printables this time. One is a coloring page and the other is already colored in, in case you just want a pretty printable to decorate.

If you’re looking for candy alternatives, coloring pages and accessories are a fun and simple choice. We like:

  • scented markers
  • colored pencils (beyond the basic primary colors)
  • pencil sharpener
  • small stencils
  • stickers
  • ink stamps

Whether you add this Easter art printable to your child’s basket or just use it for festive décor, I hope you enjoy it and have a happy Easter.

Printable Spring Break Vacation Coloring Pages

March 15, 2016 by Keri Houchin

While you’re packing for a trip, there’s a lot to keep up with and remember. For parents, the top of the list usually includes a few things to keep the kids entertained in the car or plane. These printable spring break vacation coloring pages are cute, fun, and easy to pack in a small space.

Road trips are supposed to be fun. It seems like we aren’t on the road for long before one of my kids says those dreaded words: I’m bored.

It’s a 5-hour drive from our house to visit grandparents, so it’s important to me that the kids don’t go batty before we’ve even left the city. Now that they are older, they could both probably spend the entire drive with their eyes glued to electronics.

I want a little more variety, though, and I’ve learned over the years to not only have them pack a few of their favorite books, games, and a stuffed animal, but also to bring a few surprises for them myself.

Sometimes the simplest things can be great entertainment, especially when they are new or unexpected.

I always try to choose something small that I can keep to myself. No matter what the kids pack themselves, it seems like it’s never enough.

When they get bored before we arrive at our destination, I just pull out my surprise and give them another hour or two of things to do.

Sometimes it might be a snack or an audiobook. I love making printables and coloring pages too. For this spring break, I thought it would be fun to daydream about all the places you might go on vacation.

We usually take the kids to visit grandparents, but we’ve had a few vacations too. Even if you’re staying home and planning a staycation, I’ve got you covered in this spring break vacation coloring page set.

This set of coloring pages includes 8 mini-pages. They print on two regular 8-1/2 by 11-inch pages and then can be cut apart into quarters. They’re the perfect size to fit in a cheap pencil box so you can add colored pencils or crayons for a complete activity kit. Don’t forget a pencil sharpener!

Printable fruit coloring page for kids & adults

February 23, 2016 by Keri Houchin

Printable fruit coloring page for kids and adults | One Mama's Daily Drama for Busy Mom's Helper

This printable fruit coloring page has a pattern of apples, oranges, and bananas. It’s simple enough that kids will have fun with it, but detailed enough to be a great adult coloring page too.

Who doesn’t love to color? It’s such a relaxing activity, no matter what your age is. It also has tons of other benefits.

  • Practice fine motor skills
  • Learn the names of colors
  • Create patterns
  • Try new art techniques
  • Clear your mind and de-stress

The great thing about coloring is that there are no rules. Color outside the lines if you want to!

You could use traditional crayons or colored pencils on this printable. This would also be a fun activity to branch out into watercolors, pastels, or even paint (if you print this on something a little thicker, like card stock).

I think that maybe the neatest part of this is that apples and bananas come in lots of colors. Oranges are pretty much orange, though. That means you can use a whole lot more than just classic red, orange, and yellow.

These are pretty simple icons, so you can imagine that the apples are granny smiths, red delicious, or even pink ladies.

My 9-year-old has a silly rhyme about bananas being like stoplights:

Green means slow, yellow means go, and red means… Where did you get that banana??

We thought that was pretty true until we discovered that there is a species of banana that is red. It’s smaller than a regular banana and grows in Australia.

Now that you’ve learned your weird-but-true fact of the day, grab your printable. To download your free printable fruit coloring page, click HERE.

This fits on regular 8-1/2 by 11-inch paper. It’s also light on the ink, so print as many pages as you like.

Print and Color Bookmarks with trees

February 7, 2016 by Keri Houchin

Print and color bookmarks with trees | by One Mama's Daily Drama for Busy Mom's Helper

This printable combines two classic kids’ activities: coloring and reading. These print and color bookmarks feature cute little trees to color. They’ll also encourage reading and have space for personalizing.

Although they have very different interests, both of my kids love to read. My son might bury his nose in a graphic novel or read a nonfiction book about space or technology.

My daughter, on the other hand, can usually be found with a fiction book (or three) that weigh enough to make her backpack awfully heavy.

There’s one thing they both have in common. Neither one of them can keep up with bookmarks. Dozens come into the house from school or the library, and I’ve even bought a few. Somehow, they always disappear, though.

I imagine that they are hiding with a handful of odd socks and that one Tupperware lid.

If your child is like mine, you’ll love these print and color bookmarks. You can print as many pages as you need, anytime.

There are four bookmark designs and each one has trees and text to color. The print and color bookmarks are on one 8-1/2 by 11-inch page.

I recommend printing on card stock so they are sturdy. Although I didn’t do this, you could even laminate each one after you color and cut it out.

Of course, these aren’t just for kids. I love all the new adult coloring pages and books available. I don’t always have time to finish the most detailed pages, though. I have to admit, I also feel like I should be making something useful.

That makes these perfect because you could color them in a short time and then use them in your books. Plus, it’s a great excuse to set aside time for relaxing and coloring or reading.

Endless Ideas with Wipeable Chalk Markers

January 9, 2016 by Kelly Dedeaux

Endless Ideas with Wipeable Chalk Markers / by Busy Mom's Helper #sponsored

This post is sponsored by ChalkOla. All opinions and ideas are mine alone.

I love markers, and coloring, and decorating. The only problem is that I do NOT love being stuck with the same thing all the time – I like to mix it up! I was so excited to try out ChalkOla‘s new creation, and am loving the Endless Ideas with Wipeable Chalk Markers!

Endless Ideas with Wipeable Chalk Markers / by Busy Mom's Helper #sponsored

I admit, I was a bit nervous for trying these chalk pens at first because there’s so many products out there that say ‘easily removed’, but end up not being. These new wet wipe markers came off perfectly, even on the variety of surfaces we tested it out on, like my dresser…..

Endless Ideas with Wipeable Chalk Markers / by Busy Mom's Helper #sponsored

At first, you do need to prep the markers according to the back of the package. Shake about 30 seconds, then push the tip up and down so the ink will spread into the tip….

As you’re writing/drawing, if it starts to get dry just push down for more ink. Simple as that! We have several white pieces of furniture, like my dresser, that I can’t wait to decorate. I can even do holidays, since it’s super easy to wipe off and change!

Imagine the possibilities – seriously endless! I’m thinking of buying a pack for my kids’ teachers this year for the holidays, since I’m sure they’d be a hit in classrooms, too. I’ve been enjoying the bright colors they add to my shopping list and menu – they glide on easily and wipe nicely off my pantry door. They’re even perfect for changing up my kids’ frames above their backpack hangers – they can change it up as much as they’d like with these chalk pens! They’re even offering a discount code just for Busy Mom’s Helper readers! 20% Off on Amazon – Use Code -> CHALK20A

Since most of our stuff is now in storage for the week while we’re in the middle of moving out/in houses, I thought it’d be more fun for the kids if they could decorate their paper cups. The markers are non-toxic, acid free, and child safe so I don’t have to worry.
