Do you love cooking delicious snacks and you are looking for a new recipe that your family will love? If that is the case, then you have arrived at the right place. Today I am going to share with you my favorite crispy and creamy puff potatoes to serve with tea.
The recipe is not that complicated but the taste of the crispy and creamy puff potatoes is going to blow you away, especially when paired with sweet tea.
The Ingredients
Here are all the ingredients that you need for this amazing recipe:
- 1 large egg (beaten);
- ½ cup of flour;
- 2 tablespoons of nonfat dry milk;
- 1 tablespoon of unsalted buttermilk;
- A pinch of freshly grated nutmeg;
- Vegetable oil (for frying).
Cooking Instructions
Even if you don’t consider yourself a master chef, this recipe is so simple to make that you will be able to do it right from the very first try. Check out the step-by-step cooking instructions below:
First Step
The first thing that you need to do is to put the potatoes in a saucepan and fill it up with water. Now, add a pinch of salt and start heating the water to a boil. You should simmer over moderate heat until the potatoes are tender. This usually takes up to 20 minutes.
Next, drain the potatoes and place them back in the saucepan. Cook the potatoes for 1 minute at high heat. Make sure to keep shaking the saucepan.
Second Step
After the potatoes finish cooking, you need to pass them through a ricer into a larger bowl. Now, it’s time to make the mix. Stir in the egg, dry milk, cheese, flour, nutmeg, and butter. Season the mix with salt. The last step is to use floured hands to roll the potato mixture into 1-inch balls.
Third Step
Go ahead and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Use a large nonstick skillet to heat ½ of the vegetable oil until it starts shimmering. You should work in batches of about 10.
Fry the potato balls at high heat until they are browned on three sides. It will take you 2-3 minutes per side. Drain the potato balls on paper towels and then season them with salt.
Fourth Step
As soon as you finish frying all the potato balls, the last step is to group them together and reheat them in the oven for 5-10 minutes. The last thing that you need to do is to serve them with some delicious tea!
