Tutu Bow Holder

April 17, 2018 by Kelly Dedeaux

I now have TWO girls in my family, not including myself. And three boys (four if you count their dad, who’s a kid often as well!). Ya, there’s quite a bit of testosterone at our home. Now, I’m not a very girly person. Feminine, yes, but not much for the frilly, pink butterflies, multiple purses and closet full of shoes type. That being said, my girls do tend to be a bit more into things like hair bows, ribbons, sparkles and such, so I get to enjoy the fun frills and butterflies of motherhood, not just the Hot Wheels and airplanes. And, of course, adorable girly crafts like this Tutu Bow Holder! Originally published January 2014

One of the ‘girly’ things I do like are cute little hair bows. Seriously, I was stocking up on all sorts of these before Black Widow even had enough hair to put a piggy in! Now that she’s 11, she isn’t as into bows as she once was. It’s often headbands (specifically Mavi Bandz). On occasion, though, she allows me to stick one of the cute clips in her hair. Plus, Songbird really loves her hair bows. One problem we have is, they’re often just stuffed in a drawer in their bathroom. Hard to get to, harder to sort through to find the right one.
That’s where this adorable Tutu Bow Holder comes in! I was intimidated at first, but then found that Trisha over at Momdot has the absolute BEST tutorial! I loved her very clear and precise instructions. So for the complete tutorial, go over to her tutorial.
Here’s some photos from the one I made Black Widow years ago…
She picked out all her own colors and supplies. It will fit along quite well with her room makeover that’s currently taking place (first room makeover/remodel in our new house – so excited!!!)
I’m so excited how this turned out!
Here’s the one we recently made for my little cousin’s birthday!
Don’t forget to go see Trisha over at Momdot to get the Tutorial!

I don’t have tons of friends. It’s a fact, and one that I’m totally fine with because the ones I do have are AMAZING. And guess what – one of these friends is expecting a baby this month! Woot woot! Of course I had to put together something totally cute and fun for her, like this Hot Air Balloon Baby Gift with Free Printable Tags!

I don’t want to give away personal info about her, but she married a great guy who has 3 kids from a previous marriage, plus her daughter she brought into the marriage. So they had ‘his’ and ‘hers’ kids, but wanted one that was ‘theirs’. This was even in the photos they did to announce the pregnancy – super cute with a chalkboard sign and everything ! The youngest in their bunch is 7, so she’s super excited to have a baby SISTER!

I took a LONG time at Walmart picking the stuff out for this fun baby basket – there’s just too many cute things and I wanted to get ALL of it! I knew I wanted Disney Baby stuff because A. I’m totally obsessed with Disney and B. how fabulous is Minnie Mouse and princess baby gear? I got a few blanket sets, especially the so-soft-I-want-to-keep-it-for-snuggling one that came with a Minnie hat….

…then added in some general care supplies like Minnie nail clippers and some bath items…..

….then topped it off with some fun feeding accessories. I love how there’s Disney Baby stuff all over in the baby section at Walmart, so I could find exactly what I wanted.Hot Air Balloon Baby Gift with Free Printable Tags / by Busy Mom's Helper / #MagicBabyMoments #shop

To complete the baby gift, I wanted a cute-yet-simple gift tag – and you’re welcome to print them off for yourself, too! I made sure to do a variety of colors 🙂 There’s four 8.5 x 11 sheets, each one has two ‘onesies’ and two ‘labels’ you can cut out. I did them separate so you can attach a strip of ribbon around the ‘onesie’, then put the label on top of that. You can look at my pics below to see the fun dimension it gives it!

  1. Take your 4 sticks and tape them securely into the corners of your basket, then tape each to your Pom Pom topper (use the frills to hide the tape spots). Hot Air Balloon Baby Gift with Free Printable Tags / by Busy Mom's Helper / #MagicBabyMoments #shop
  2. Line your basket with tissue paper.
  3. Cut out diamond shapes from your colored paper, then tape each along a strip of ribbon to hang around your Pom Pom topper. Use your cute stickers to attach the banner around the topper in about 3-4 spots.Hot Air Balloon Baby Gift with Free Printable Tags / by Busy Mom's Helper / #MagicBabyMoments #shop
  4. Take your Minnie hat (or other hat) and stuff some tissue paper inside to puff it up. Place it GENTLY on the top of your Pom Pom, then flip up some of the tissues pieces to help keep the hat from falling. Hot Air Balloon Baby Gift with Free Printable Tags / by Busy Mom's Helper / #MagicBabyMoments #shop

The Easiest French Manicure Ever

I can’t believe the Thanksgiving break is about over! We had such a wonderful time relaxing and spending time as a family, and even made sure the kids got ‘special’ times! Us girls took a bit one afternoon to pamper our piggies with fabulous colors, and now we’re showing you how to do The Easiest French Manicure Ever!

I learned this trick years ago, and it’s been so nice to just quickly whip up some french manicured nails in a jiffy! My girls think it’s a blast, especially when we don’t just do the typical white/clear/pink. When I asked the girls what special thing they wanted to do with just the three of us over the break, they instantly replied ‘paint our nails’! So we swung by Walgreens’ beauty department and picked up some of Piggy Paint’s fabulous colors.

Why Piggy Paint? Well, Wonder Woman has really sensitive skin, always has. I have to be careful what I put on her nails! I like that Piggy Paint nail polish is non-toxic and hypoallergenic. She also has a habit of chewing on her nails (gets it from Hubby, I think), so I feel safer using all natural polish that can’t hurt her if she does.

So first, do your bottom layer color, and allow it to dry completely. If you’re using Piggy Paint, it dries super fast…another bonus! Cut out a slip of paper arched like the top of your nail. Use it as a stencil, pressing it firmly down to prevent the polish from bleeding.

Paint your top line color carefully, then remove the paper/stencil and allow it to dry.

That’s it! It’s super fast, and turns out beautifully! Here’s Wonder Woman’s nails once we were done…..

And mine….

We had so much fun, and even did our toes! When we were done, the boys even begged for me to paint their nails because they saw how much fun we had! It was super cute, and Superman even went around ‘look at my BEAUTIFUL nails!’ Love these kids!
