Pumpkin Breakfast Smoothie

Pumpkin Breakfast Smoothie

November 1, 2016 by Danielle

Remember how Flash loves Pumpkin? Well, technically speaking I do, too, but I always blame my pumpkin stuff on him 🙂 Anywho – we wanted something new for breakfast the other day, and although I normally would have LOVED to whip up some muffins, the kids wanted a ‘smoothie’. Flash was in a pumpkin mood, so we tried something totally different than what we normally do – Pumpkin Breakfast Smoothie – and it turned out FABULOUS! Originally shared October 2nd, 2013

Pumpkin Breakfast Smoothie / Busy Mom's Helper

This is seriously so yummy, pretty darn healthy, and definitely hits a spot for those pumpkin lovers!

Ingredients
1 cup canned Pumpkin (or fresh pumpkin puree, if you’d rather)
1 Banana
1/2 cup Applesauce
1/2 cup Milk
2 tsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice
5 Tbsp. Honey
2 cups Ice (more if you want a thicker smoothie)
Cinnamon for sprinkling, if desired
Whipped topping, if desired

Directions
Blend all of the ingredients (except Cinnamon and Whipped Topping) in a blender until smooth.

Divide into glasses – about 2 large glasses, or more smaller ones (for the kids)

Put some Whipped Topping and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top, if desired. Enjoy!!!

If you follow me on Instagram, I posted a photo of Flash enjoying this smoothie two weeks ago 😀

Strawberry Julius

Strawberry Julius

April 4, 2016 by Danielle

This amazing & creamy Strawberry Julius recipe was originally shared in May 2013. I’m resharing because it’s not only delicious and easy to make, but the perfect summertime drink recipe!
Strawberry Julius / recipe by BusyMomsHelper.com / delicious and creamy summer drink
In the mall where I grew up there was an Orange Julius. It isn’t there now, but I remember that whenever we’d go there and hang out during high school (there wasn’t much else to do in Cache Valley, so wondering the mall was the ‘cool’ thing) we would stop by and get one. My favorite was the Strawberry Julius. Not a huge fan of orange, but strawberries are WONDERFUL! So this drink was just so refreshing, flavorful and creamy. I’ve been craving one for awhile, since we went on a LONG drive to Disneyland in March. One of the places we stopped for lunch had an Orange Julius place there, and it was a great trip down memory lane to get a Strawberry Julius. Then I decided that I should make it myself! If I’d realized how simple it was, I would’ve been making them for quite awhile!

Ingredients

1 cup Water
1/2 cup Milk
1 cup Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 lb. Strawberries, stems cut off
1 tray Ice

Directions

Mix all of the ingredients in the blender until smooth. Enjoy!!!

Healthy Orange Julius

Healthy Orange Julius

healthy orange julius

I have a thing for smoothies.  Me and smoothies go together like, Laverne & Shirley.  I think I’m dating myself here, anyone remember Laverne & Shirley?  I love making smoothies with fresh berries in the summer, fresh apples in the fall, and this time of year?  Citrus.  This Healthy Orange Julius will knock your socks off!  Get you dancing!

A long long time ago, way back before I was married or had kids, I was a hairdresser.  And I had this one client that always brought me an Orange Julius.  If you’ve never had one or you don’t know what I’m talking about, just make this smoothie and you’ll be caught up.  I never really frequented the place where you can buy them.  As a matter of fact, this client was the one that introduced me to them.  And she was a faithful client.  She was in every four weeks for a cut and color.  So every four weeks, I got to enjoy an Orange Julius with her.  She was a sweetie.

One of the things that I love about Smoothies is it doesn’t take much to be fantastic.  Just a few simple ingredients and Ta-da!  You have scrumptiousness.

So for my Healthy Orange Julius, you’ll need oranges, orange zest, a banana, vanilla greek yogurt and some almonds.  You’ve got it all here folks, protein, vitamin C blah blah blah.

healthy orange julius

Toss it all in the blender and you’re good to go!

Helpful Hints

  • If you like a thinner smoothie, add some milk.
  • Dairy Free?  Use a soy yogurt, or other substitute
  • I always add ice, about 5 or 6 cubes, to keep it nice and cold.  The blender motor can warm it a bit.
  • If you’re using frozen bananas (or other fruit), there’s no need for the ice.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

September 17, 2015 by Angela Paris

Celebrate Fall with all the pumpkin goodness the season has to offer with this homemade Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. It’s loaded with lots of healthy ingredients, but so delicious the whole family will love it!

Scrumptious Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

Since my birthday is in October, Fall has always been my most favorite season. I love the sunny days with the cool breezes and the beautiful colors of the trees in New England. Here in NH we’ve had unseasonably warm weather these last few weeks, and while I’m sad to see summer go, I’m sort of craving one of those crisp Fall days at the same time.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie for Fall

Now, there’s nothing more quintessentially Fall than Pumpkin Pie, am I right? I’m so excited to share this delicious recipe with you today. This smoothie has the most amazing blend of flavors. And it’s got pumpkin puree, bananas and yogurt in it, so it is a bit healthier than the Pumpkin Spice Latte all the coffee shops are serving these days.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie - a blend of pumpkin, yogurt and banana with delicious Fall spices.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

Ingredients:
frozen banana
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (Greek or regular)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup skim or almond milk
2 Tablespoons pure maple syrup
1 Tablespoon honey
2/3 cup pumpkin puree (canned or fresh)
Whipped cream (optional)

Directions:
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. Process the mixture until smooth. For an icy smoothie, add 1 cup of ice to the blender. Top with whipped cream if desired.

This is a great treat for the kiddos, too. This serving size is more appropriate for adults and teens, but I find that splitting between my two children is the perfect amount. Mine love the whipped cream topping especially!

Strawberry Blueberry Juice Smoothie

Strawberry Blueberry Juice Smoothie

*I received free product to sample for this post. All opinions are my own. See my Disclosure Policy for more information.

I’m a big fan of smoothies, especially for breakfast. It’s such a great way to add some fruits and veggies into my diet, plus plenty of healthy additives like nuts and protein powder. One problem? I’m actually picky with the flavor…it has to be delicious and a smooth combo of flavors, not just a mangled, weird-aftertaste type drink. Thanks to Goodbelly+ juices, I now found a great way to incorporate healthy juice and fresh flavors! My favorite recipe is this Strawberry Blueberry Juice Smoothie.

Strawberry Blueberry Juice Smoothie / by Busy Mom's Helper #Goodbelly #Smoothie #Health

One of the perks to these Goodbelly+ Shots is that they’re full of vitamins and calcium, plus plenty of probiotics, yet they taste great. I got some packs of their Blueberry Acia, and really love it! Some days I drink it straight with my normal breakfast for some added health benefits, but most of the time I mix it in with my beloved smoothies. And today I’m sharing my favorite combo so far: Strawberry Blueberry Juice Smoothie!

More delicious Goodbelly+ Shots flavors:

  • Mango
  • Pomegranate Blackberry
  • Strawberry

Check out the adorable packaging, too!

Who can resist a smiling little drink first thing in the morning? Or as an afternoon pick-me-up?! Super fun!

Strawberry Blueberry Juice Smoothie / by Busy Mom's Helper #Goodbelly #Smoothie #Health

Ingredients

  • 1 Goodbelly+ Shot Blueberry Acai Juice Drink
  • 1/2 scoop Protein Powder (I think Vanilla tastes best)
  • 1/3 cup Almonds
  • 10 Strawberries, frozen
  • 1/2 Banana
  • 2/3 cup Milk

Strawberry Blueberry Juice Smoothie / by Busy Mom's Helper #Goodbelly #Smoothie #Health

Directions

  1. Put all of the ingredients EXCEPT strawberries in a blender and blend well. Add the strawberries and finish blending until smooth.
  2. Enjoy!!!

One of the things I really love about this drink is that it isn’t TOO thick. It’s pretty much thin enough you can just drink it, but it’s definitely got a nice frothy chill to it! The Goodbelly+ makes it even healthier, so it’s a fabulous way to start the day of on the right note!

Tropical Strawberry Smoothie

Tropical Strawberry Smoothie

February 23, 2014 by Danielle

What’s your take on smoothies? Love them, hate them, too busy to make them? We LOVE smoothies here, especially for a quick breakfast on weekdays. Plus, I really feel it gives me a good energy boost to get my butt going! This Tropical Strawberry Smoothie has some of my favorite flavors all in one, and is like a big glass of Hawaii. Now THAT’S a pleasant wake-up call!
Tropical Strawberry Smoothie / Busy Mom's Helper
Doesn’t that just look gorgeously pink? Totally! You can, of course, mix and match some of the ingredients, add more of a favorite and less of an item you consider more ‘eh’. Make it YOURS!
Ingredients
1-2 cups Milk
1/2 – 1 cup Yogurt (I used Vanilla Greek Yogurt)
1 cup Strawberries, frozen
1 cup Pineapple, fresh (Honestly, I used canned…it’s what I had)
1/4 cup Almonds
Directions
Put the ingredients in your blender/food processor. Blend well, then ENJOY!
Notes: Use more milk for a more ‘drinkable’ smoothie, less for a thicker smoothie.

Coconut Orange Smoothie

Coconut Orange Smoothie

May 21, 2013 by Danielle

Can you believe school is almost out for the year? We’re making some summer plans for visiting family, and it’s starting to hit me how close things actually are. Crazy how things kind of just go really slow for awhile, then all of a sudden BAM BAM BAM with a bunch of things all at once! For example, it’s almost the end of school, then a few weeks later we’re visiting family out of state for a few weeks, then almost immediately after returning our house will be complete and we’ll move in…..and then school starts again. Crazy, but fun! For a little afternoon pick-me-up, try this delicious (and tropical – we can dream, right?!) Coconut Orange Smoothie!
Coco-Orange Smoothie / Busy Mom's Helper

I’m really getting into the hot-weather months lately, especially since it’s in the 90’s here the past few days. One of my favorite ways to cool down is a nice smoothie, and my kids sure don’t mind that! I like to mix it up, though, and definitely go by what produce is on sale that week. Oranges are one of those things that seems to always (or at least almost always) be on sale, so I tend to use it in a lot of smoothies. This one is a smooth blend of oranges and coconut milk, but the coconut milk could easily be changed out for plain milk. My hubby hates coconut, so his are made that way.

Ingredients
2 Oranges, peeled
1 Banana, peeled
2 cups Spinach
6 oz. Coconut milk
1 tray Ice cubes

Directions
Blend everything in your blender. Pour into two serving glasses and enjoy!

Cherry Berry Smoothie

Cherry Berry Smoothie

April 9, 2013 by Danielle

Many years ago we had a house that had a HUGE, old cherry tree in the yard, so we loved finding different recipes that called for cherries. One of my favorite was this tasty Cherry Berry Smoothie, because it was super refreshing, full of fruity flavor, and a healthier afternoon snack option!
Cherry Berry Smoothie / Busy Mom's Helper

Ingredients:
1 cup Frozen tart cherries, pitted
1 cup Low fat milk (we used skim)
½ cup Plain lowfat yogurt
4 tbsp. Blueberries, not frozen
2 tbsp. Honey
1 tsp. Pure vanilla extract
Sprinkle of cinnamon (about 1 tsp.)
16 Ice cubes
Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth. Garnish with almonds, walnuts or cherries, if desired.

Notes: I found it’s easier to blend everything except the ice cubes first, then put those in and finish blending. Makes 4 8-oz servings. 164 calories per serving (based on 1% milk).

Would you rather try this Cherry Berry Smoothie for snack, or a quick breakfast recipe?
