Preheat oven to 375 degrees. While oven is preheating, put stick of butter in a 9 x 11 inch glass baking dish and place in oven for butter to melt. Meanwhile, thoroughly combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add milk and mix well to make a batter. Remove dish from oven when butter has melted. Pour batter into baking dish. Pour cherry pie filling over batter, distributing evenly. Be sure to scrape every bit out of can. ;) Bake for about 40 minutes, til golden brown. Cool for at least 15 minutes. Serve warm or room temperature.
