Carbohydrates that the Human Body Cannot Digest – The Best Alternatives

June 26, 2020 by Angela Paris Leave a Comment

carbohydrates

Learning how to eat good is the best way to keep yourself in shape and there is no doubt about that. As most people already know by now, overloading on carbohydrates it not always a good idea. The reason behind this is that carbohydrates give you short boost energy and then you will crash. This is never good, but that’s not the only problem. Did you know that there are some carbohydrates that the human body cannot digest?

The benefits that we from food come from the nutrients that are digested and absorbed by our bodies. Therefore, our bodies do not function at 100% if the food that we eat is not fully digested and absorbed to take in all the vitamins and minerals. Today I am going to show you what are the carbs that the human body cannot digest and give you some alternatives.

Carbohydrates – A Quick Summary

Healthy Carbs

For those who are unfamiliar with carbohydrates, they should know that they are usually found in grains, sugars, fruits, some dairy, and also starchy vegetables. Carbohydrates are the majority of calories that people consume on a daily basis because they can be found in pasta, potatoes, rice, beans, bread, and lentils.

What are the Carbohydrates that the Human Body Cannot Digest?

As previously mentioned, not all carbohydrates are good for our bodies. While the body can digest sugars and starches by using enzymes to break down the nutrients, the same cannot be said about fiber. Fiber contains the carbohydrates that the body cannot digest and instead of being absorbed into the body, fiber will remain in the gastrointestinal tract until it is eliminated.

How to Get Fibers the Proper Way

On the bright side of things, you can get a healthy fiber intake through various foods that are god the body. Some of the best options are nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. However, we do need to mention that these fibers are not digested and instead, their different nutrients and properties will help boost your health.

Top 5 Best Yoga Poses that Keep You Fit

June 24, 2020 by Angela Paris Leave a Comment

Setu Bandhana

Many people make the mistake of thinking that yoga is super easy to do and that it only helps you connect with your body at a spiritual level. Believe me, this is not the case. Yoga is quite demanding and if you practice it regularly, you will keep a fit body like no cross-fit or cardio class can help you do. The tricky part here is to know what yoga poses to use.

With that said, today I am going to share with you my top five 5 favorite yoga poses to keep you fit. If you stick with them, you will be closer than ever to getting the 6-pack that you always dreamed of! Without any further ado, let’s get right into it.

Top 5 Yoga Poses to Keep You Fit

#1 Naukasana or Boat Pose

Naukasana or Boat yoga Pose

If somebody tells you that yoga is easy, then ask them to do the boat pose. Simply lie down on your back with your legs together and while keeping your hands to your thighs, inhale and raise your legs and back to form a 30-degree angle. This is an amazing core exercise and your abs will thank you for doing it. A useful tip here is to keep your toes pointing upward to be as efficient as possible.

#2 Setu Bandhana

Setu Bandhana

The second pose on our list is called Setu Bandhana and it’s a great exercise for beginners who are just getting into yoga. Finding the right balance might be tricky at first, but you will quickly get the hang of it. Lie on the ground with your spine erect and hands by your side with the palms facing downwards. Next, bend your leg at the knees while making sure to keep your feet together on the mat. All that is left to do is to slowly lift the hips off the floor while keeping the hands and feet in the same position.

#3 The Cobra Pose

The Cobra Yoga Pose

If there is a yoga move that everyone knows and loves, then it has to be the cobra pose. What makes this pose amazing is the fact that it does wonders for back pains. Not just that, but your flexibility will be greatly improved and your shoulders will feel more flexible than ever after doing the cobra pose. Another important benefit that I want to highlight is that your spine will be strengthened and more flexible.

#4 Vrikshasana or the Tree Pose

Vrikshasana or the Tree Pose

Yoga is all about core strength and balance. The Vrikshasana pose is going to test your balance. Even though this pose might seem easy at first glance, it can get quite intense after 30 seconds. All your muscles will be flexed and your foot will struggle to find the right balance point. The trick to getting the most out of this pose is to focus your eyes and focus on your breath. Doing this will help you focus on the task ahead and clear your mind.

#5 Ardha Matsyendrasan

yoga

The spine is often neglected when doing workouts and due to this, you will regularly get back pains. Fortunately, this is not the case with yoga. This amazing pose is called Ardha Matsyendrasan and it will strengthen your core while also improving the flexibility of your spine. Believe me, you will feel so much better if you start doing this pose on a daily basis.

Best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches – The Kids Love It!

June 18, 2020 by Angela Paris Leave a Comment

best grilled cheese sandwiches

Grilled cheese sandwiches are a busymom’s go-to recipe when the kiddos are feeling hungry and there is not enough time to cook. Everyone loves grilled cheese sandwiches and there’s no doubt about that. However, making the best grilled cheese sandwiches requires a couple of special ingredients that you might not realize can mix together. Here is where my expertise in the kitchen comes in. I love making grilled cheese sandwiches and today I will share you with my favorite one.

What is the Best Bread for Grilled Cheese?

Even though you might think that the cheese is what makes the sandwich delicious, the bread actually plays an important role too. Using the right type of bread is going to make your kiddos love grilled cheese even more than they already do! The best types are white bread and sourdough. However, you can even go with a thick slicked boule if you have it around the home.

What is the Best Cheese for Grilled Cheese?

When it comes to the delicious taste of these sandwiches, it’s all about the cheese. My favorite is American cheese, but I also make sure to drop some cheddar in the mix to add a bit of flavor. You can also use creamy processed cheese or leftover brie if you have some in the fridge.

Cooking Instructions

Making the best grilled cheese sandwich is super simple. You only need a couple of minutes and the right ingredients. Follow the tips below:

  • Use low heat so that the bread can cook until it gets a golden crust and that the cheese has enough time to melt;
  • Make sure to cook the grilled cheese sandwich open-faced. This might take some time because you have to start with the top slice of bread and wait for it to be covered a couple of minutes before getting to the bottom slice, but it’s all worth it;
  • The golden rule of making grilled cheese sandwiches is to not skimp on the cheese. Use as much as you have to spare.

Here is how the folks at Harvard advise everyone to do breathing exercises to relieve stress:

  • Breathe in slowly and deeply, pushing your stomach out so that your diaphragm is put to maximal use.
  • Hold your breath briefly.
  • Exhale slowly, thinking “relax.”
  • Repeat the entire sequence five to 10 times, concentrating on breathing deeply and slowly.

Kickboxing

Kickbox involves a series of controlled kicking and punching movements that will give you an outlet to blow off some steam. Not just that, but you are also getting a really good workout. In addition, it’s never a bad idea to learn some new skills, even combat skills!

Audible is the most popular platform for listening audiobooks. Back in 2017. Audible wanted to celebrate 20 years of activity and it did that by sharing a list with the most popular audiobooks of all time. This should come as no surprise, but the list includes top-rated titles such as “The Subtle of Art of Not Giving a F**k” by Mark Manson and the famous “It” by Stephen King. However, the list also contains some interesting titles that you probably didn’t get the time to read yet.
