If you want to invest in a crib that’s built to last, and can grow with your baby, we can’t recommend this enough. This stylish crib also converts into a toddler bed, daybed, and even a full-sized bed with a headboard! 

The mattress features an adjustable height so you can lower your mattress as your baby starts to stand in the crib.

This model is also JPMA certified and has been tested for lead and other toxic elements, so you can rest assured that your baby will sleep well in this elegant, well-constructed crib. 

When we put this to the test, we also found it incredibly easy to construct. This is a solid wood crib and comes with in-depth instructions; we were able to assemble it with just one person!

Converting this crib to the daybed, toddler bed, and full-sized bed was also incredibly simple, however, you will need to purchase a separate guardrail kit for the full-sized bed. 

Another downfall of this crib is that it’s pretty tall. With a height of around 44”, you may struggle to reach inside the crib if you’re 5 ft 2 or shorter. If you want a timeless, versatile investment for your nursery, we highly recommend this crib.

Now, let’s take a look at one of our other favorite cribs – the Dream on Me Clover 4-in-1 Modern Island Crib. This stunning mid-century style crib is a centerpiece all in itself.

Available in olive and green, white, and white and natural, there’s a style or color combination to suit almost any room. It’s also made from durable and renewable New Zealand pinewood and boasts full panel sides, non-toxic finishes, and adjustable mattress height settings.

This crib also converts into a toddler bed and daybed, and when they want a little more freedom, it can even be used as a sofa in their room!

However, to make the sofa conversion, you’ll need to purchase the conversion rails which are sold separately.

Thanks to the adjustable mattress height, this is an investment that will last you for years to come and adjusted to suit your growing child’s needs.

As you’d expect, this crib has also been tested by external labs to ensure it meets the required safety standards and does not contain lead or other toxic elements. 

With a height of 36.25”, this is a slightly shorter alternative to the Delta making it more accessible for shorter parents.

When we put this together, we found the instructions simple to follow, and although it’s fairly lightweight, it feels exceptionally durable.

There are only two real downsides we found with this crib: firstly, you’ll have to buy the conversion rails for the sofa conversion separately, and secondly, the paint isn’t all that durable.

If this scratches on other objects, the paint can peel away easier than we’d like. However, if you’re looking for a reliable, sturdy, comfortable, and convertible crib with a sleep mid-century design, you can’t go wrong with this!

We assembled this crib ourselves, and even with the added extras, it was relatively easy to construct. The wood feels sturdy, weighty, and strong, and it comes well-packaged to avoid the risk of damage during transport.

The mattress height was also easy to adjust, but there is one BIG downfall with this model – it doesn’t come with the mattress.

This is pretty disappointing as the model itself is rather expensive, however, we feel that the extra storage, changing table, and quality of the crib make this justifiable.

• Extra Storage: With a large drawer beneath the crib and a changing table with extra storage, you’ll never be short on space with this functional crib. 
• Easy Assembly: Despite all the extra parts, this crib is still easy to put together, and the instruction leaflet is well laid out. 
• Convertible: This can be converted to a daybed, toddler bed, and full-sized crib, making it a great choice for your nursery. 

Cons 

• No Mattress: Unfortunately, this model doesn’t come with the mattress, so you’ll have to buy one separately. 
• Guardrails are Separate: To convert this crib to a footboard or toddler bed, you’ll need to buy a separate conversion kit. 

Graco Hadley 5-in-1 Convertible Crib (With Drawer)

If you’re a fan of the under-the-crib storage, you’ll love this 5-in-1 convertible crib with drawer by Graco Hadley.

This elegantly designed crib is available in white or black, and either option looks exceptionally stylish and durable.

As with most other convertible cribs, this model also transforms from a crib into a toddler bed, day bed, full-sized bed, and footboard, however, you’ll need to buy separate guardrails and conversion kits for the toddler bed and footboard. 

The mattress support base can be moved to three different heights, and this crib is not recommended for children exceeding 89 cm in height.

The storage drawer below the crib features two separate compartments, making this model great for smaller nurseries, or for parents with plenty of baby items to pack away!

Made from sustainable pine wood and boasting a safe and stylish finish, this crib is as beautiful as it is safe and secure. It’s also been tested by third parties for the presence of lead and other toxic chemicals, and its traditional farmhouse design makes it look great in any space.

This may not be the most expansive crib on the market, but it sure is stylish. When we put it to the test, we felt that the wood was durable and secure, however, we did notice that the paint can scratch off pretty easily.

Although most of the instructions are easy to follow, the drawer can be difficult to fit in, and perhaps the biggest drawback of them all is that no mattress is included.

However, if you want something simple, stylish, and to the point, we feel like this crib is a great model for the price.

• Paint Can Flake Off: Unfortunately, the paint can flake off pretty easily on this crib. 
• Drawer Can Be Difficult to Fit: Although the crib itself is easy to put together, we did find the drawer difficult to install.

Safety 

Safety is your number one priority. How safe is your chosen crib? Does it meet government requirements and safety standards? Does it have good reviews? Is it well constructed?

If you’re buying a crib online, take a close look at the product description or website for this information. Keep an eye out for product recalls, too, just in case yours is on there.  

Ideally, your crib should have the following safety features: 

• Stationary sides
• No cutout sections on the headboard or footboard
• No missing or damaged hardware
• A firm, tight-fitting mattress
• Slats with no more than 2 ⅜ inches of space between them
