Family Holiday Movie List

December 28, 2020 by Kelly Dedeaux

Family Holiday Movie List / Great Christmas movies for the family to enjoy together! #christmas #holiday #movies #christmasmovies #holidaymovies #familymovies #traditions

There’s so many wonderful things about the holidays, and great movies to enjoy as a family are among the top. We love sharing some great times together, snuggled with blankets and mugs of hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course), watching some old favorites along with any new films. Whether you do a whole day movie-a-thon, or spread it out during the entire Christmas season, we’re sharing our favorites in this Family Holiday Movie List!

Family Holiday Movie List / Great Christmas movies for the family to enjoy together! #christmas #holiday #movies #christmasmovies #holidaymovies #familymovies #traditions

There’s not really a specific order to this list – pick your favorites or tackle them all in whatever order your family prefers. That being said, our family does have a traditional ‘first holiday movie’ we start with. Since it’s kind of a mix of the holidays, we like to ‘kick off’ with The Nightmare Before Christmas. Not only is it a great Disney film (love seeing Jack & Sally during the Halloween party at the Disney parks!), but it’s a fun way to say goodbye to Halloween and welcome in Thanksgiving and Christmas time.

A Christmas Story – PG – 1hr 34m

How the Grinch Stole Christmas ft. Jim Carrey – PG – 1hr 44m

This is certainly not a list of ALL the holiday movies available, but these are our favorites and ones we think would be a hit with the whole family (although I admit hubby and I will pass on Santa Buddies or Search for Santa Paws)!

Nonstop Laughs when Ralph Breaks the Internet

Nonstop Laughs when Ralph Breaks the Internet #disney #RalphBreaksTheInternet #movie #comingsoon

Guys, you know that I love Disney movies – the classics, live action remakes, Marvel, Star Wars, newer Pixar ones, all of them – so it goes without saying that I’ve been eager to see Ralph & Vanellope’s newest adventure. Knowing how well Disney typically does with sequels, I was expecting it to be as good as the first – but I was wrong. It was even better!!! No kidding, I loved this film so much, and consider it one of the funniest animated films I’ve ever seen – if not THE funniest! You’ve got to run out and see this new movie (hitting theaters November 21st) if for no other reason that it’s Nonstop Laughs when Ralph Breaks the Internet!

Nonstop Laughs when Ralph Breaks the Internet #disney #RalphBreaksTheInternet #movie #comingsoon

As my usual with reviews, I don’t want to spoil a single thing – especially any of the hilarious, laugh-so-hard-your-face-hurts moments – so I’m just gonna really quick say a few reasons you NEED to see Ralph Breaks the Internet with your family (or by yourself, it’s still amazing). Hubby walked out of the theater saying ‘that’s the best animated movie ever’ at least a handful of times. Even before the two funny mid-and-post credit bits our faces already hurt from laughing!

Nonstop Laughs when Ralph Breaks the Internet #disney #RalphBreaksTheInternet #movie #comingsoon

So beyond the humor – which had some that was more adult and plenty that was for the kids, too – here’s why seeing Ralph Breaks the Internet in theaters this season should be on your must-do list:

New Adventure Full of Surprises

Ralph and Vanellope hit the internet to try and save Sugar Rush, but along the way there’s plenty of obstacles – some that will even test their amazing friendship. I couldn’t guess the ending, but loved the way it played out even though it wasn’t what I was expecting. Since we’re all really into being online lately, tons of the animation, little blips, and scenes will be totally relatable and make you think a new way next time you’re online!

Nonstop Laughs when Ralph Breaks the Internet #disney #RalphBreaksTheInternet #movie #comingsoon

Super Cool Characters

Along with many of your favorite faces from the original Wreck it Ralph, there’s plenty of new characters along for the ride. ‘Yes’ from ‘BuzzTube’ has so much spunk and sass, you instantly want in to her circle. Spamly may not be the most ‘professional’ guy, but at least he tries to help out and I kind of found him sweet. My absolutely favorite, though, had to be Shank – a fearless and charismatic woman in the game Slaughter Race who’s voiced by the lovely (and equally amazing) Gal Gadot (wonder woman)! You know her and Vanellope are gonna hit it off, both being up for adventure and excitement as well as their love of racing. The whole lot of Disney princesses also shine in their own way, offering plenty of quotes worthy of repeat.

Hard Truths

While I don’t want to give anything away, there’s plenty of scenes in this film that may be a hard reality for some – pointing out how the internet doesn’t always bring out the best in people, how much time or nonsense of our lives we can waste there, and so much more. I was reminded of a few things I should check about myself when choosing how to spend my time online, and perhaps it’ll do the same with some of you. A movie that can possibly make us better as a person is surely worth a look (or three!).

Nonstop Laughs when Ralph Breaks the Internet #disney #RalphBreaksTheInternet #movie #comingsoon

There’s so many more reasons that Ralph Breaks the Internet is one of my absolute FAVORITE animated movies, and why I think it’s even better than the first – but you’ll have to see it for yourself to know it all. Every now and then a movie comes along that my family will go see multiple times before it hits DVD and this is definitely one of them!

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, a New Holiday Tradition

November 2, 2018 by Kelly Dedeaux

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms #DisneysNutcracker #Movie #Theater #Disney

Everyone’s been abuzz with anticipation at the newest movie release, and eager to see how Disney brings this beautiful old tale to a new life. After seeing the beauty, adventure and mystery brought to the screen with incredible acting and affects, our family has decided that The Nutcracker and the Four Realms will be a New Holiday Tradition to enjoy year after year! I don’t want to ruin a single moment of this amazing new film, so we’ll avoid any spoilers. Here’s a few things to help convince even the most skeptical to rush out and see it in theaters asap!

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms #DisneysNutcracker #Movie #Theater #DisneyVisit a Breathtaking World

No passport needed to experience this beautiful, colorful world that Clara visits during a Christmas Eve party at her Godfather’s house. Each of the Realms has its own special theme, bringing to life the Land of Snow, Land of Flowers, Land of Sweets – and even the Land of Amusements – with their own characteristics.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms #DisneysNutcracker #Movie #Theater #Disney

The Ballet a Whole New Way

The Nutcracker wouldn’t be complete without at least some of the lovely dancing, and they don’t dissapoint! The beautiful and talented Misty Copeland pulls you in with every movement as the ballet tells an important piece of the story. Also, be sure to watch some of the dancing during the credits, because you’ll see some awesome moves not normally associated with the classic song!

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms #DisneysNutcracker #Movie #Theater #Disney

Finding Yourself

It seems like so many people in today’s society need help finding themselves, their own identity, talents, and – especially – confidence. Often times, people look outside for answers to problems, instead of at their own selves. Due to events in her life, young Clara is struggling with this herself, and you may be gripping your seat as you hope she can figure it out in time to help save the day.

Seeing How Grief Can Affect Us

After losing a loved one, people react in so many different ways as they deal with the grief. For some, pretending things are the same helps them cope. Others feel guilt about moving on or finding any joy without the person. Some may feel anger or abandonment or resentment. Others simply sorry and acceptance. Grief is intense, but it’s how we handle it that can matter – as some in the story will learn.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms #DisneysNutcracker #Movie #Theater #Disney

Adventure & Mystery for All

Along with graceful dancing and touching story, we have a plot full of adventure, declarations of war and a fate of the realms to tackle. As Clara tries to find her way, and maybe peak a bit into her mother’s past, she’ll need a lot of courage, intelligence – and, of course, her trusty Nutcracker to help.

A Female Hero with a Great Mind

I’m a big fan of movies with female heroes, and absolutely LOVE that they not only created Clara as such – but she’s such a brilliant young lady, as well. She uses her mind to get through many obstacles, and her heart to go further.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms #DisneysNutcracker #Movie #Theater #Disney

Nothing is as it Seems

Be ready for some surprises along the way, because no story would be quite complete without a twist or two!

Movies to Watch Before Disney World

April 9, 2020 by Kelly Dedeaux

disney movies

If you’re planning a Disney vacation, you may be considering watching some movies leading up to it, just for fun or perhaps to refamiliarize your kids (or yourself) with the characters. The problem is that there’s SO MANY MOVIES to choose from! If you only have time for some, here are our favorite Movies to Watch Before Disney World.

Our family loves doing little activities or things to get more excited (and to help us be patient) leading up to a Disney vacation. Whether it’s decorating our MagicBands, decorating with our printable Disney banner, or doing a cool countdown chart, it’s a lot of fun and helps us make family memories even before we leave on the trip. Watching movies is a must, as well, to get us in the mood – and this year to introduce our kids to new things, such as Pandora land at Animal Kingdom by watching Avatar!

Whether you want to just want to watch a couple top picks, or as many Disney movies as you can fit in, here are the top movies to watch before Disney World we chose before our trip this year…

1: Avatar – with the opening of Pandora land a couple of years ago, I knew we had to watch this film just to give my kids an idea of the beautiful sights they have waiting for them there. Not only that, but the Flights of Passage ride will make much more sense!

2: Toy Story – With rides like ‘Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters’ and ‘Toy Story Mania’, this was already a good pick. Now with the opening of the whole Toy Story LAND, it’s a definite must-see!

Guide to the new Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios #waltdisneyworld #toystoryland #disney #hollywoodstudios #disneyworld #travel #familytravel

3: Beauty & the Beast – of course there’s Belle around the parks, but especially if you’re going to dine at Be Our Guest restaurant (which I highly recommend!), this will give you a sense of nostalgia when you walk into the ballroom dining room, and definitely the West Wing.

Walt Disney World Be Our Guest Restaurant Breakfast

4: Star Wars – We love ‘Star Tours’ and the like, but now there’s even more experiences and shows with this awesome series! Not only that, but Star Wars Land opens in a year or so, making this even more important to refresh on.

5: The Lion King – My favorite show at Disney World is the Festival of the Lion King, so I wanted to watch this childhood favorite with my family again before we take them to see it.

6: Finding Nemo – This wasn’t one of our TOP priorities, but with a ride for this film that I know they’ll enjoy, we added this to our list.

7: The Little Mermaid – Again, the ride in Magic Kingdom is a fun reason to watch this classic – but also because Ariel is a character you can find in many areas of the parks.

8: Alice in Wonderland – Maybe it’s just me, but I love remembering the film when riding the Teacups! Plus, since this one is a bit older, your kids may not have ever seen it before.

9: Peter Pan – Tinker Bell and Peter Pan are quite popular, as is the ride, so it’s fun to compare the sights you see during the ride to the film.

10: Cinderella – With that big beautiful castle at the center of Magic Kingdom (and particularly if you’re able to nab a reservation at Cinderella’s Royal Table), this is ideal to watch again just for that magic.

11: Frozen – The Frozen ride in Epcot will be much better if you remember the songs and friends in the movie.

12: Monsters, Inc. – Kids will get a big laugh at the Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor, but if they’ve recently watched the film then it’ll make it that much better.

13: Aladdin – Jasmine and our favorite street rat are quite popular, plus the entire area around the Carpet ride is themed after the film.

14: Tangled – Maybe it’s just me, but the little area by the Tangled restrooms is so pretty – plus those are some of my favorite restrooms!

15: Dinosaur – If your kids will be riding Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom, it may be good idea to have them watch the movie first. Knowing ‘Aladar’ in the cute film might help them not be so afraid in this darker ride!

Now, there are plenty more that could go in this list (like Lilo & Stitch, Winnie the Pooh, Sleeping Beauty, Cars, etc.) – because there’s TONS of characters and experiences! These were our top for this particular year, though, and because we had to prioritize due to time (as much as I’d love to rewatch every Disney movie ever made each year, that’s just not realistic).

Christopher Robin Brings out the Best of Childhood

August 1, 2018 by Kelly Dedeaux

Christopher Robin #christopherrobin #disneypartner #disney #movie #theater #winniethepooh #tigger #eeyore #piglet #hundredacrewoods #disneymovie

I’ve always loved the Winnie the Pooh films and stories, with the silly ol’ bear and his crew tackling all sorts of adventures with their dear friend Christopher Robin. That being said, I was a bit concerned when I heard they were making a live-action version, because how could it appeal to adults and children enough to be a hit? After seeing it with my family this week, though, I gladly admit that Christopher Robin Brings out the Best of Childhood, and of life in general – with a touching, hilarious adventure and message we all need!

Christopher Robin #christopherrobin #disneypartner #disney #movie #theater #winniethepooh #tigger #eeyore #piglet #hundredacrewoods #disneymovie

If you’ve seen any of the trailers, you know that in this story, Christopher Robin is all grown up. He works for a large luggage company, and that seems to be his priority over his beautiful and sweet wife, as well as his intelligent and adorable daughter.

Christopher Robin #christopherrobin #disneypartner #disney #movie #theater #winniethepooh #tigger #eeyore #piglet #hundredacrewoods #disneymovie

When he hits a particularly rough patch that doesn’t seem to have a happy ending, he’ll need help from his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood to get through!

Pooh Bear hasn’t changed a bit, it seems, when he suddenly appears to Christopher in London, leading him on a whole new adventure full of old friends, happy memories, and one particularly sturdy red balloon.

Christopher Robin #christopherrobin #disneypartner #disney #movie #theater #winniethepooh #tigger #eeyore #piglet #hundredacrewoods #disneymovie

I don’t want to spoil anything, but encourage y’all to go see it when it comes to theaters this week because it’s ADORABLE, and still full of the family-friendly humor we all enjoy. Not only that, but I think it’s message about needing joy, happiness and laughter in our lives – and what’s truly important – is something our entire society could use. We’re all so busy doing ‘something’, that we forget how amazing doing ‘nothing’ can be – and what it can really lead to.

Christopher Robin #christopherrobin #disneypartner #disney #movie #theater #winniethepooh #tigger #eeyore #piglet #hundredacrewoods #disneymovie

Christopher Robin #christopherrobin #disneypartner #disney #movie #theater #winniethepooh #tigger #eeyore #piglet #hundredacrewoods #disneymovie

Today my kids were saying there’s ‘nothing to do’, and my first thought was ‘perfect, that’s exactly what you should do then’! They remembered the movie, and went on about to do some very fun ‘nothing’ for a long while. We need more moments like that – and more reminders of the intelligence from a bear with very little brain, but very big heart!

Ant-Man and Wasp: 5 Reasons it’s Even Better Than the First

June 27, 2018 by Kelly Dedeaux

Ant-Man and Wasp: 5 Reasons it's Even Better Than the First! #antmanandwasp #marvel #superhero #movies #avengers

With so many great Marvel films coming out, you may be tempted to skip out on one or two. Trust me, though, you’ll regret it because the newest one – Ant-Man and Wasp – is not only hilarious, but downright touching and full of adventure. Today we’re sharing it all with you (no spoilers!)! Ant-Man and Wasp: 5 Reasons it’s Even Better than the First! And since I completely loved the first film, you know this one must be great 😉

Ant-Man and Wasp: 5 Reasons it's Even Better Than the First! #antmanandwasp #marvel #superhero #movies #avengers

#1: The Cast is Phenomenal

If there’s no other reason you want to see this movie, just go for the cast. Seriously! With amazing talent like Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer and more, it’d be hard NOT to turn out with a wonderful movie experience. Each character is displayed and performed so well, it’s like they were each MADE for these parts. I mean, wait until you see Paul Rudd (aka: Ant-Man) spending his time while under house arrest (his consequence from his part in Civil War) – talented guy!

Ant-Man and Wasp: 5 Reasons it's Even Better Than the First! #antmanandwasp #marvel #superhero #movies #avengers

Ant-Man and Wasp: 5 Reasons it's Even Better Than the First! #antmanandwasp #marvel #superhero #movies #avengers

#2: You Might Cry

Or at the very least, get all the feelings – from hope and despair, to excited and afraid, not to mention all the relationship-type feelings such as between Scott and Hope, Scott and his absolutely adorable daughter, or between Hope and her parents. I had tears in the first five minutes, so needless to say this pulls you in right from the start!

#3: You WILL Laugh

If you don’t, then something might be wrong. Among all the emotions and adventure, there are a TON of hilarious antics, conversations and the likes that you would expect from such an incredibly funny guy like Paul Rudd. And don’t forget his best friend Luis, you definitely brings a whole new level of humor to the screen!

Ant-Man and Wasp: 5 Reasons it's Even Better Than the First! #antmanandwasp #marvel #superhero #movies #avengers#4: Adventures of Epic Proportions

Guys – there’s car chases with MINIATURE vehicles! Add to that a huge PEZ dispenser (Hello Kitty, of course) and Lang’s suit that just isn’t working quite right, and this will be one wild ride. Not only does Scott need to repair his relationship with Hope and Hank, stay out of trouble (and ‘in his house’) for 3 more days until his sentence is over, but also help them attempt a rescue for Hope’s mom, who may still be alive – but lost for the past 30 years – in the Quantum realm. Oh, and did I mention a Quantum-phasing woman with her own agenda, an eager-for-a-win FBI agent and a black market dealer eager for a big paycheck? Yup, you’re in for a crazy time with all these folks trying to beat the clock – and each other!

#5: Because ‘Peanut’ is the Coolest Kid Ever

We got a feel for Scott’s cute daughter in the first film, but she really shines in Ant-Man and Wasp so we see much more of her personality – which is AWESOME! Seriously, more kids need to be this level of fun, supportive, understanding AND unknowingly wise. Just wait until you see more of Cassie in the film, and you won’t be able to help but love her, too.

Ant-Man and Wasp: 5 Reasons it's Even Better Than the First! #antmanandwasp #marvel #superhero #movies #avengers

Bonus: All the ‘ANT’ Names!

Okay, so maybe this doesn’t make this one BETTER than the first film, but it sure was hilarious hearing the names Scott picks for his several ant friends. My favorite is probably ‘ANT-onio Banderas’!

Ant-Man and Wasp hits theaters July 6th, 2018 – so grab your tickets and enjoy!

Incredibles 2 Blows Away Expectations

June 19, 2018 by Kelly Dedeaux

Incredibles 2 Worth the Long Wait #incredibles2 #partner #disney #pixar #disneypixar #movie #superhero

Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible, Frozone & the whole gang are back after 14 long years (though only moments from the ending of the last film). You may be wondering why so much hype when it’s been such a long time, and I admit I had my reservations as well. But guess what – it was well worth the wait because Incredibles 2 Blows Away Expectations and as my hubby put it ‘may be one of the best animated films I’ve ever seen’! Don’t worry, no spoilers here 😉

Incredibles 2 Worth the Long Wait #incredibles2 #partner #disney #pixar #disneypixar #movie #superhero

Please Note: Disney released a seizure warning due to some scenes with flashing lights. Please use your best judgement.

Old Friends

Whether your favorite from the original film was one of the Incredible family members, ‘uncle’ Frozone, or even agent Dicker, you’ll be thrilled to see them on the big screen once again as they face new challenges.

Incredibles 2 Worth the Long Wait #incredibles2 #partner #disney #pixar #disneypixar #movie #superhero

Newcomers

Among the great originals, you’ve got some new friends AND enemies, including wealthy super-fan Winston Deavor and his brilliant inventor sister Evelyn. The cast grows with new supers being introduced, with powers from dimensional portals to ‘regurgitating’ fire.

Incredibles 2 Worth the Long Wait #incredibles2 #partner #disney #pixar #disneypixar #movie #superhero

Incredibles 2 Worth the Long Wait #incredibles2 #partner #disney #pixar #disneypixar #movie #superhero

Among the awesome crew is also a new villain, Screenslaver. Elastigirl sure has her hands full trying to figure out her new mission to bring down this mastermind.

Great Story

Incredibles 2 picks up right where the previous one left off, so be ready to learn what’s in store for the supers now that they got a taste of being out of hiding. With Mr. and Mrs. Incredible adjusting new roles – hero and stay-home parent – there’s a whole new slew of challenges for them to tackle. Being the supers they are, though, they won’t shy away from it!

Incredibles 2 Worth the Long Wait #incredibles2 #partner #disney #pixar #disneypixar #movie #superhero

Handing Over the Spotlight

In the past, Mr. Incredible was front and center, so taking over the home duties while handing that over to his equally talented wife sure isn’t going to be easy. All the parents out there fully understand that parenting is no easy mission, even for super parents, so many will relate to his struggles. Half of the laughs are because we’ve all been there, too!

Incredibles 2 Worth the Long Wait #incredibles2 #partner #disney #pixar #disneypixar #movie #superhero

Dad’s are SUPER

I’ll admit, I was concerned that the movie would portray Robert Parr as a stereotypical dad who can’t handle being a stay-at-home parent. Boy was I in for a surprise, because like any super dad out there he steps up to the task and surprises us all!

Incredibles 2 Worth the Long Wait #incredibles2 #partner #disney #pixar #disneypixar #movie #superhero

Edna is Still my Favorite

Edna Mode (aka ‘E’) was my favorite in the first film, and still is after seeing her join in the adventures with the Incredible family. Her blunt talk, confidence, and pure sass is downright hilarious and makes me love her even more now!

Jack Jack

As we saw at the end of the first Incredibles, Jack Jack isn’t your average baby – but the family never saw otherwise! Now Mr. Incredible is at home adjusting to parenting full-time, with a child that has more than a few surprises up his sleeve. Parenting isn’t easy, and Jack Jack is the EXTREME of adorable challenges!

Incredibles 2 Worth the Long Wait #incredibles2 #partner #disney #pixar #disneypixar #movie #superhero

So be ready to laugh like crazy, grip your seat from suspense, jump in a few intense parts, and be moved by this super family who handles all life’s challenges – both the superhero ones and the day-to-day ones we can all relate to – while growing closer together.

Incredibles 2 hits theaters THIS WEEK, so nab your tickets now – you won’t want to miss this amazing new film that’s worth the 14 year wait!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (The Past of a Scoundrel)

May 17, 2018 by Kelly Dedeaux

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbacca

The Star Wars movies were a huge part of my childhood – growing up, Sunday afternoons were for watching movies with my dad, and this series was a repeated hit. I have no trouble admitting that my childhood crush was Han Solo – handsome, adventurous, and a good guy deep down. While we got to know Han, Leia and Luke very well during the films and later learned much more about the origins of the twins, we had very little clue at all as to Han’s past. All that’s different with the newest film Solo: A Star Wars Story – and we finally learn more about the past of a scoundrel that we all adore!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbaccaHave you ever wondered how Han and Chewbacca met? The history behind Lando and Han having differing opinions as to who really owns the Millennium Falcon? Or how they got into the life of smuggling and debts? There’s so many stories I considered when growing up and watching my childhood hero as to these answers – but I’ll freely say that NONE of them were as amazing as what we learned in this newest Star Wars movie!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbaccaDon’t worry, I’m certainly not going to do any spoilers – amazing films like this MUST be seen and experienced for yourself, otherwise some of the amazement is gone. Here’s a few things that were downright exceptional, in my opinion, and more reason you need to go see this ASAP (it hits theaters May 25th)!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbacca

First of all, you KNOW there’s going to be epic flight scenes – zooming through space, dodging obstacles and/or enemies, racing to beat the clock. The original Star Wars movies were incredible – so with today’s technology it’s even BETTER and some spots were just jaw-dropping with the graphics.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbaccaAll of the most recent films have had a droid that we couldn’t help but love – and added so much to the humor and personality of the cast, such as BB-8 and Kaytoo (Rogue One). Solo: A Star Wars Story is no exception, bringing L3-37 into our lives and keeping us rooting for this feisty, no-filter lady!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbacca

You not only get to learn more of the history of Han Solo, but other favorites like Lando Calrissian – the ever-flirtatious, confident and sometimes mischievous ‘friend’ who’s just as handsome and charismatic as ever!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbacca The Millenium Falcon is one of the most well-known ships in movie history, and we get to learn more about this beautiful and powerful lady during the Solo film. Of any ship of any movie I’ve seen, this one is my absolute favorite!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbacca

The cast for the movie was phenomenal – bringing some more popular names mixed in with some newcomers who blew us away. Of all of these, though, I have to say that Paul Bettany was the most shocking to me – I know him best from his role as Vision in Avengers (or the voice of Jarvis previous to that), or as a clever-with-words fellow in A Knights Tale. In Solo, however, he’s a powerful and feared Dryden Vas, crime lord of the group known as Crimson Dawn. I thought it’d be difficult seeing him as a ‘bad guy’, but oh my word he did INCREDIBLE!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbacca

Adventure is a necessity in Star Wars films, and Solo’s movie doesn’t disappoint. From crazy plots, to betrayal, to impossible tasks and more, you’ll be gripping your seat to learn how things do or don’t work out!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbacca

There’s tons of things included in Solo: A Star Wars Movie that make you go ‘oh my gosh, did you hear that’ – because it’s the basis for other things in the ‘future’ films! I couldn’t help but clap like a little kid at a few lines because it was like my childhood all over again!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbacca

Your emotions will be played with, as Han and Chewie form relationships and trust – whether good or bad – throughout their adventure. They each started out with a specific goal, but how will things work out when everything seems to be going against them?

Solo: A Star Wars Story (the past of a scoundrel) #hansolo #starwars #movie #chewie #chewbacca

I can’t wait to go see Solo in theaters again to catch any other details I may have missed, and to experience this incredible movie all over again. It makes me feel like my childhood is getting some explanations that I didn’t even know it was missing from those years of watching Star Wars with my dad. And I’ll admit, I *still* have a crush on Han Solo 😉

Speechless about Avengers Infinity War

Speechless about Avengers Infinity War #infinitywar #disneypartner #movie #marvel #avengers #superhero #theater

It’s all been building up to this – the past TEN YEARS of awesome Marvel films featuring our favorite superheroes have all been leading to this one big film: Avengers Infinity War. Needless to say, hubby and I have been eagerly awaiting it’s release for YEARS, but nothing could have prepared us for this wild ride. I’ve never had a more challenging time writing about a film – especially a superhero one – than I am now because I’m practically SPEECHLESS about Infinity War!

Speechless about Avengers Infinity War #infinitywar #disneypartner #movie #marvel #avengers #superhero #theater It doesn’t matter who you enjoyed seeing the most the past decade – whether it was the classic Avengers, Thor and Loki, Black Panther, Spiderman or the Guardians of the Galaxy – because they all come together for this massively EPIC roller coaster of a battle. From the far reaches of space, to the city streets, to Wakanda, everyone must do their part for any hope to save half of all life in the galaxy.

Y’all know I don’t want to give out any spoilers – I’m a firm believer in seeing it for yourself. And even if not, I’m confident that no matter how much I told you, it would still be an extreme shock to your system once you watch the film! So to avoid spoilers, let me just tell you why Avengers Infinity War is not only the greatest movie ever made (in my own, personal opinion), but why it’s in a league all it’s own and practical requires you to see it more than once!

The Villain You’ve Always Wanted

Thanos is FINALLY making his appearance, and let me assure you he does not disappoint all the hype and build up the past several years. He puts the other villains to shame with his power, will, determination, intelligence and more. Not only that, but as you go through the story with him, you see things a different way. Is he evil? Is he just willing to do what must be done for the better of the universe? I’ll let you decide that for yourself…

Oh, and if you’ve never seen any villain THROW A MOON, you’ll love this awesomeness 🙂

An Emotional Ride You May Not Be Ready For

You’ll laugh the whole way through (this is a Marvel film, after all). You’ll most likely cry – possibly the whole way through. You’ll be trying to solve problems or seek answers to questions. There’s so much your brain and emotions will be going through from the first moments (I kid you not – do NOT be late to this movie!) all the way until the after credits scene, that your brain may even feel a little funny afterwards.

You’ll Leave Feeling Different

The whole walk to our vehicle after the movie, then the entire drive home – and even the next day – hubby and I just kept saying things like ‘I just….I have no idea!’ You will feel different – unsure, curious, excited, sad, angry, happy, incomplete, and so many other emotions you may not even be able to label. I’ve NEVER had a movie put me through so much in less than 3 hours – and especially not in a way that lasts long after the movie is done!

You Won’t Expect What’s to Come

If you’re like most everyone else, you’ll be trying to figure it all out along the way. No matter what you guess, no matter how you think it’ll end – you’re likely wrong. It will blow you away! Again – I don’t want to ruin anything for you – but trust me that you won’t know what hit you, even at the finale!

The Visuals are Astounding

So there’s the incredible, one-of-a-kind storyline, great cast, hilarious content and surprises all along the way – but Avengers Infinity War also has amazing visual effects. Fight scenes, insane battles, powerful demonstrations, tricky magic, sweet moments, and so much more is done so well that you feel like you’re right there through it all. It makes me truly grateful for the technology we have today, making the stunning sights in this movie possible!

Even now, as I’m trying to put my exact thoughts and emotions into words to share with you, it’s nearly impossible. There’s just SO MUCH! I do know this, though – no film has ever made me go through so many emotions or thoughts, and I’ve never enjoyed any movie as much as I did Infinity War. I cannot WAIT until next year for the next installment of Infinity War (name yet to be released – eeeeek, so excited!) to see the fate of not only some of our favorite heroes, but also the universe!

Black Panther Leading the World

February 14, 2018 by Kelly Dedeaux

Black Panther Movie is beautiful, exciting, touching & a definite must-see! #blackpanther #movie #theater #marvel #superhero #disney

This year may be one of the most exciting for Marvel – leading up to Infinity Wars, which we’ve all been anxiously anticipating. Along the way, we couldn’t miss out on learning more about the Black Panther – his story, his ascension to the throne, and the history of Wakanda. Along the way, we learn who’s a friend, who’s an enemy, and who may be a little bit of both. As T’Challa’s father tells him – ‘you’re a good man, with a good heart – and it’s hard for a good man to be king.” The big question is, what will this king decide for the fate of his people, for Wakanda, and the rest of the world?

Black Panther Movie is beautiful, exciting, touching & a definite must-see! #blackpanther #movie #theater #marvel #superhero #disney

There’s several parts of this film that are just SO MUCH BETTER if you see them yourself, and I don’t want to spoil anything – so let’s just discuss some of the obvious points, and why you can’t miss out on this incredible film! First, we know that T’Challa’s father was killed in the Captain America: Civil War movie, so now he’s next in line for the throne. There are traditions and rituals in Wakanda that must be followed, and since he isn’t the only one who can make an attempt to rule, a few surprising characters may get in his way.

Black Panther Movie is beautiful, exciting, touching & a definite must-see! #blackpanther #movie #theater #marvel #superhero #disney

As we’ve come to expect and enjoy from Marvel films, there’s plenty of humor in Black Panther – my favorites typically come from the brother-sister dynamic between T’Challa and his little sister Shuri. She’s definitely full of spunk, plus a total genius!

Black Panther Movie is beautiful, exciting, touching & a definite must-see! #blackpanther #movie #theater #marvel #superhero #disney

I’ve always been a Black Widow fan, but I have to admit that if I had to choose to be beaten up by her or Okoye, general of Wakanda, I’d pick Widow because – holy crap – Okoye is LETHAL! She not only has remarkable loyalty to her country, but is one of the best fighters I’ve ever seen. Have a ton of guns? Too bad, her spear is still gonna kick your butt!

Black Panther Movie is beautiful, exciting, touching & a definite must-see! #blackpanther #movie #theater #marvel #superhero #disney

It’s quite a ride through the whole movie, wondering which of the potential-bad-guys will end up being the real threat. Maybe M’Baku from another tribe, or W’Kabi who grew up as T’Challa’s friend. Maybe it’s Klaw who’s still angry of his mark when he stole that vibranium many years ago. Perhaps the mysterious Erik Killmonger will be more than Wakanda can handle. Even CIA agent Everett K. Ross may pose a major danger if he learns of Wakanda’s truth. T’Challa certainly has his hands full, and hopefully he can figure out who to trust – and some sad truths from his father’s past.

Black Panther Movie is beautiful, exciting, touching & a definite must-see! #blackpanther #movie #theater #marvel #superhero #disney

I doubt I’m alone, but Lupita Nyong’o is one of my absolute FAVORITE actresses – she’s so talented, and stunningly gorgeous. Her character, Nakia, is one full of heart and empathy for those suffering in the world. She’s a brave woman who has a few decisions to make regarding her place in everything, and where her loyalties lie the most.

Black Panther Movie is beautiful, exciting, touching & a definite must-see! #blackpanther #movie #theater #marvel #superhero #disney

The visuals in Black Panther are a stark reminder as to how far CG and affects have come over the years – it’s AMAZING! Their tech, the landscape, the suites, battle scenes, and even just the stunning beauty of Wakanda keeps you enthralled from beginning to end.

Be prepared for an entertaining, exciting ride with Black Panther as we’re faced with many surprises and turns – and possibly an outcome that will affect not just Wakanda, but the entire world.

Is Jumanji Okay for Kids?

January 19, 2018 by Kelly Dedeaux

Is Jumanji Okay for Kids? #jumanji #movie

I remember seeing the original Jumanji movie growing up (dang I miss Robin Williams!) and how just hearing those drum beating to the tune gave me chills. When I heard there was going to be a new Jumanji movie, I was thrilled – especially because of such an incredible cast line-up! When I found out it was rated PG-13, I was a bit worried – is Jumanji okay for kids to see? Due to a bunch of family being in town last weekend, and reading several notes as to WHY it had this rating, we agreed that we’d take the kids with us to see it in theaters. Here’s about our experience with our kids (ages 12, 11, two 8-year-olds, and a 6 year old) seeing this film for the first time together. Photos courtesy of Sony Pictures.

Is Jumanji Okay for Kids? #jumanji #movie

Now, I want to be very clear that I’m a firm believer that YOU KNOW YOUR CHILDREN BEST. Just because I may think a movie is okay or not okay for a certain age does not – in any way – mean that it has to be that decision for your family as well. These are just my own thoughts to help you out while you make your decision.

Is Jumanji Okay for Kids? #jumanji #movie

The action is pretty basic – much more ‘violence’ in actual video games, and I don’t remember seeing any blood except a tiny hint of it when one of the characters get shot, and it’s after the fact. For my kids, I had no problem with the obviously-pretend fighting that was even a bit cheesy (but on purpose, because the idea is they’re IN a video game). The ‘evil villian’ in the movie/game is a bit creepy – he has bugs coming in/out of his ears and up his sleeves, and at one point a scorpion comes out of his mouth to sting one of his henchmen, killing them. My kids thought it was a little icky, but still not a huge deal or very scary, in my opinion.

Is Jumanji Okay for Kids? #jumanji #movie

Now, one big concern I had was the fact that one of the FEMALES was playing a MALE avatar in the game, so Jack Black was acting as a girl in a man’s body. They did touch on this, where she needed the other guys to tell her how to pee. They make a few little comments about their male-parts during that. I thought my ever-so-silly boys would never let that go, but while they might have laughed a bit at that part, it wasn’t as big of a deal as I was afraid it could end up being.

At another point, the Jack Black/girl hugs a cute guy and then everyone stares at her/his crotch because it’s ‘obvious’ she likes him. This part went completely over my kids’ heads (if the girls got it, they didn’t let on) and they definitely don’t show anything at any point. SPOILER: Then near the end she/he tells him ‘see you later’ while looking down. Again, not a major thing.

Is Jumanji Okay for Kids? #jumanji #movie

By the way – I think Jack Black did a PHENOMENAL job in this part!!!

Another thing you should be aware of to assist in your decision, is that at one point two of the actors (as their avatars) attempt to kiss – it’s both of their first times, so it’s really awkward and about as ridiculous as can be. My kids laughed – it was funny, after all – but then moved right on. At one scene some of the teens-in-adult-bodies try alcohol for the first time – spitting it out quickly since it’s disgusting – but one continues to ask for more and ends up drunk.

Is Jumanji Okay for Kids? #jumanji #movie

My big issue that has me almost regretting letting my kids go see it was the LANGUAGE. I knew there would be swearing, but there was a LOT in it – mostly by Kevin Hart. I don’t believe there was any use of the F-word, but many many uses of s**t, a** and ‘oh my g**’. Now, I know my kids will hear some of these in normal life and even in plenty other movies they’re fine seeing – but in this film it seemed over the top.

An important thing to note – since they’re in a ‘game’, they all have three lives, so it does show them ‘dying’ some crazy – but gore and basically blood-free – deaths. Being chomped by a hippo, trampled by rhinos, or being bitten by a snake are a few of them – as are falling from very high up. They’re very fake-looking. There are a few ‘jump’ scenes, but even my most timid child just jumped a tiny bit then moved right on.

So is the new Jumanji safe for kids? I think it really depends – overall, please just keep in mind your OWN child, their level of maturity or scare-ability, and make the best choice for your own family. Overall, I’m okay that I took my kids to see this film – but to be perfectly honest, if I’d known the amount of swearing, I probably wouldn’t have just yet.

For older kids and adults – Jumani is HILARIOUS, and I love how they tie it in to the original one through a few hints. I loved it – especially since my hubby was laughing WAY out loud the whole time! This will be a definite DVD purchase for us when it comes out, and I recommend those mature enough to go see it on the big screen!
