More than a decade full of incredible Marvel films has led up to this one final moment, where fans of all ages will sit in a theater for just over 3 hours to see if all the hype was worth it and how our favorite heroes will attempt to save the day one last time. After seeing the film myself – and enjoying every heart stopping moment of it – I’m sharing this SPOILER FREE article on Avengers Endgame: What You Need to Know!
By now I hope you’ve seen all of the other films – or at the VERY least, Infinity Wars and Antman & The Wasp (I’d even add Captain Marvel on there). If not, please go watch those and then come back. I’ll wait….
Back? Alright, let’s tackle this amazingness! As you know, Infinity War ended with half of the universe as dust blowing away in the wind. Several of our heroes are gone, some that are still around are stranded far from home (some in the Quantum Realm), and things look bad. Not just bad, but the worst they’ve ever been – which is saying something considering all the team has gone through the past 10+ years. Needless to say morale is lacking, and our determined heroes are looking for a chance to correct their failure.
Now, because this is a SPOILER FREE post, there’s a lot I can’t say or even hint towards. Trust me, you’ll want every single moment to be a surprise when you see it because it is INCREDIBLE! Avoiding any of that, here’s some things you need to know about Avengers Endgame:
Nostalgia: Endgame is FULL of moments that will bring you back to how you felt when you saw the other films, and really make you feel like this wild ride has come full-circle in a satisfying, though surprising, way.
Is it ok for kids: Now this is difficult to say, because I know how varied families can be with what they deem as appropriate for their own children. I will say Endgame is more intense than Infinity Wars, but close to the same level. For my own kids, we’re working through the last few movies in this story that they haven’t seen yet, and if they handle Thor: Ragnarok and Infinity War just fine then I have no problem with them seeing Endgame. As they’ve seen the majority up to those, I’m confident we’ll allow our kids to see it (especially since they’re such superhero fans like us and want to see the grand finale to this adventure!) Language is about what we’ve come to expect from a Marvel film.
Fan Theories: There’s been so many fan theories as to what will happen in Endgame since the emotional end to Infinity War, but none of the ones I’ve seen are truly accurate. Maybe bits and pieces, but when you see Endgame you’re in for a LOT of surprises right from the beginning. No matter what I heard, nothing could have predicted the twists and turns the Avengers are in for!
Laugh out Loud: Guys, it’s a Marvel movie, you know there’s going to be plenty of comedy all the way through. Even during ‘serious’ moments, there’s plenty of laughable moments – but they’re certainly perfectly timed to give you the best story possible.
Bathroom Breaks: One concern everyone seems to have is sitting through the entire 3 hours and a few minutes without having to use the bathroom. I highly recommend not drinking much to help prevent the need of leaving – because really, every moment is worth seeing and there isn’t a ‘good’ time to miss – but if you absolutely MUST go, try to go as soon as War Machine and Ant-Man start listing off movies. But go as fast as you can, because there’s a very brief time in there before it gets back to ‘don’t miss’ stuff! There’s really not a good time to go, but that’s at least a ‘less bad’ part to miss.
Storytelling: With more than a decade leading up to this, many are concerned that Endgame just can’t live up to the hype. I admit, I was a bit skeptical myself because after so many amazing films, HOW could they top that with the best grand finale ever? I’m here to tell you that you will NOT be disappointed – they did it! They created a movie with such an incredible, surprising, emotional and intense storyline that not only brings this particular Marvel chapter to a close in a way that leaves you satisfied, but reminds us WHY we got pulled into all of these great films to begin with. More than once in the theater, the audience all yelled and threw our fists in the air because we just couldn’t contain our excitement at certain moments!
In Avengers Endgame you’ll laugh, you’ll probably cry (I did more than once), you’ll be gripping your seat or tensing your shoulders, and you’ll love every gosh darn moment of it! I highly recommend seeing it ASAP so you can watch it yourself before you accidentally hear a spoiler from someone – it’s much better if you experience it first for yourself!
Avengers Endgame hits theaters this week – hurry out & see this unforgettable grand finale ASAP!
