Slow Cooker Steak with a Kick

Okay, so I’ve probably worn you all out raving about how much I love crockpots. Really, though, they’re such a necessity for a busy mom, wouldn’t you say? There are plenty of days that would be PB & J for dinner (again) if it weren’t for this amazing invention. Although I’m not sure who actually invented the slow cooker (internet says Rival company), but whatever individual it was, or who inspired the idea, my bet is it was a woman. Men just wouldn’t think of something like this! This recipe for Slow Cooker Steak with a Kick is definitely a win for the whole family, and requires hardly any effort at all because – crock pot!

Steak with a Kick / Busy Mom's Helper

This meal is just what the Dr. ordered. I wanted something savory and flavorful, with just enough ‘kick’ in it to please my hubby and I, but mild enough the kids would still eat it.

4-6 small Steaks, about 1-2 inches thick
½ Yellow onion, in large slices
½ bag (or so) Baby carrots
8 oz. Mushrooms (if desired)
1-2 cups Water
1 tbsp. Seasoned salt
1 tsp. Oregano
1 tsp. Paprika
½ tbsp. Chili powder
1 tbsp. Montreal steak seasoning

Place everything in a slow cooker, set on low for 4-6 hours (until steak is cooked through). Stir occasionally (even just after putting in and shortly before serving) to mix in all of the flavors.

Notes: best served with baked potatoes!
