How To Make Jimmy Johns Bread:

Bread can definitely be tricky! But don’t worry, with this recipe we have got you covered for these loaves to be the highlight of sandwich night! Now, let’s get cooking!

In your mixing bowl or KitchenAid Bowl combine the water, sugar, and yeast from step one and let sit for 5 mins for the yeast to bloom.

  • You must do this due to the active dry yeast, if your mixture does not fluff up a bit, your yeast may be dead and you will need to start over with new yeast and warm water.
  • Another reason your yeast did not activate is either your water was too hot or too cold. The optimum temperature for yeast to boom is between 100-110 degrees F.

Mix

Once you yeast has bloomed add in the remaining ingredients from step two and knead until smooth and soft.

  • Yes, we do need more water and sugar added here. We had to add it in separately to activate the yeast.
  • If you are using you KitchenAid mixer, use the dough hook and mix on low for 5-10 mins, time can very just watch it close.

Proof

Cover the dough with plastic wrap or a towel and let rise for an hour, until it looks something like this.

  • It’s important for the dough not to be in a drafty area for the best rise. dough likes it warm!

Bake

When the dough has doubled in size divide into 12 pieces and shape into loaves.

  • If you would like lines in the top of your bread (like a French Loaf) add them at this time while a knife. However I do not believed the Jimmy Johns Bread has these.

Place loaves on sheet pan lined with parchment paper or a silicon mat and let rise for 45 minutes. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and bake the loaves for 18 mins until they are golden brown.

Let the bread cool and you can slice the bread in half and add whatever topping you would like to make a delicious Jimmy Johns Sandwich! My personal favorite is a turkey pesto sandwich or a nutty chicken salad sandwich, so tasty!
